I've been told that is now club policy.
I see your point, but it's pretty standard for clubs to be opaque WRT lower-end contracts. I'm sure if you put a query to the club, they'd answer it. Just because they don't publicise it doesn't mean it's a secret. How is that even possible? Surely members and stakeholders have a right to know what contracts the club is signing players to? How can we legitimately judge administrative performance when voting in elections if they aren't open about their performance?
I hope Houlihan only has a 1 year deal as well
I am getting sick of the amount of Houlihan bagging on this forum. Granted - he is soft. I accept that. However, when more than half our side is virtually incapable of hitting a target, I cannot understand why we would not embrace a player of his class. Houlihan's footskills are excellent, easily top 3 at the club. Yet most seem so keen to ship him out?
I actually think he's the type of player that a lot of fans WANT to see stuff up, and so they watch him more closely and therefore notice the occasional error. A lot of other player's mistakes slip by largely unnoticed due to the lesser degree of scrutiny placed on them.
In my opinion, this denigrating of Houlihan reflects an extremely shallow perspective. It takes all types to form a 22, wherein it is necessary to compliment the toughness of a Bentick with the quality of a Houlihan.
He is a valued and most definitely required player.

true. He is a 'softer' player and whatever anybody says after this he is not the softest in the comp BY FAR. I rate him and stevo highly. As both of them are easily in the top 3 skill wise at the club. I just don't get the amount of bagging they cop. HONESTLY guys get over it!i hope houla got a 2-3 year deal.I am getting sick of the amount of Houlihan bagging on this forum. Granted - he is soft. I accept that. Have you asked the club?No it's being deliberately kept secret. They'd announce it if it wasn't. The only people in the know there would be those directly involved.
Whilst I agree to an extent, and that I definetly want to see him kept, his decision making at times can be a little costly, however he did improve that area of his game this year. Great skills, sometimes a little fancy but absolutely agree that he must be kept - as he is one of the few, quality experienced players on our list.I am getting sick of the amount of Houlihan bagging on this forum.
