Collingwood. Forever.
I'm starting up a little Collingwood FC fansite for something to do and I was wondering if I can include official club logos?

I've seen them on Nick's, collingwood365.com etc. but do I need to contact the club or something?

Cheers.

Also, I assume I can put up pictures of players, cant I?

Depends on how anal the club wants to be. Geelong got stroppy when I had a GFC logo on a site that wasn't really intended to be seen by anybody.

As for players, while they themselves aren't covered, if they are wearing a club guernsey then that is covered by copyright and can't be republished without permission.

On top of all that, you can't just lift photos from newspapers etc, they're also covered.

But despite all that, you're not likely to get into too much trouble. At worst they'll send you a nasty letter, so you might as well go for it until told otherwise. Although with lifted photos it's a bit more serious; photographers are such precious things. It's only when you get 'big' that they would take things to the next level. So go for it, but don't over-indulge.

hmm, just as I thought.

Oh well I'll only have 5 or 6 small ones on there so they can get stuffed.

Thanks Jim Boy.

you could spend a minutes to write an e-mail asking for permission.

Also, just DO NOT claim to have made them yourself. Whatever pics you use, just say where you got them.

So I could just have links to the pages where I got the pics from - eg. collingwoodfc.com.au - on my 'links' or 'about' page?

You will need more than just placing links to the CFC or the herald sun sites on a links page.

You will need to clearly state on pages that display the images a disclaimer along the lines of "Images supplied courtesy of .........." or similiar.
