I have the feeling that one of the factors considered in drafting Kreuzer at no.1, imo the better choice anyway, could have been Cotchin's injury doubts, and the fact Kreuzer has none!

I always thought Kreuzer would go no.1 purely based on speculation, but there were a few on this site like HBF and Gilly1972, who watched enough u/18's to feel that Cotchin was the better option, could this have been the difference? or is this not to serious?

"The Tigers have placed the exciting 17-year-old midfielder, the No.2 overall pick in last November's draft, on the long-term injury list, with a broken bone in his foot and Achilles tendon soreness".

How long does it take to heal a broken foot??? I would have thought that it would be recover 100% by now?
Does anyone reckon the achilies soreness could be realted???

I didnt want him to get injured ethier as he will be an exciting player to watch in the future.
And as for the achilles soreness relating to the broken ankle, I would say no but who am I to say. Im not a doctor.

It wouldn't have had any influence on the decision we made to pick Kreuzer.

Hughes picked Kennedy even though he had a shoulder reconstruction like Judd, the Hawks picked Dowler after he had a car crash and the Cats drafted Selwood even though he missed most of 2006 with injury. ;)

Would like to think no-one on this board will be uncool enough to give it to Richmond over this. Stay cool, no-one likes to see a star cut down by injury especially a young up and comer. Let's keep our powder dry till March 20 then let 'em have it on the ground.

yep. hope the lads lay off isn't too long. he was almost a blue, one pick away actually.

Seeing as though he injured it in the TAC Finals, I would have though he would have been well and truly over it by now. May have been some complications.

Still, this kid will be a gun. Don't you worry about that.

Feel bad for the kid, but I genuinely feel for the Tigers too, they have had a rough trot and need some luck. Believe it or not, it makes a difference.

Would love to see the Tigers pumping the likes of Adelaide, Port etc.

Not that you want to hear this from a blues supporter...

Despite the media hype I believe WH and team were pretty unanimous on Kreuzer bieng #1. If they thought Cotchin the better player I don't think the foot would have deterred them....I don't recall hearing anything at the time about the foot being that bad. It's a shame was really looking forward to seeing Cotch debut.

Richmond's Football Director (forgotten his name) this morning on SEN clearly stated he was placed on the LTI list purely to give a couple of others a chance to play in NAB cup. Said will be right by Rd.3

He has been put on the long term injury list for eight weeks which as has been mentioned will see him elevated onto the list by round 3.

I think it has been done to elevate a rookie for the opening rounds as we may be without either Simmonds (so Cartledge will be elevated) or Thursfield (which will see Silvestor elevated) to breach the gap.

We may not be without them so Collard could be given a go as he has been impressive so far.

In any case we are resting Trent which is the smart thing to do, he is 17 years old, he will be a super player for us for the next 10 - 15 years, dont need him just yet.

He gone will not play a game in 2008....

I thoroughly enjoyed watching them beat Essendon and Collingwood last year -of course that was before the tirade of tiger tantrums on our board that is yet to decist...

So long as they dont beat us, I dont care who they beat...

But it is a shame that Cotchin is on the LTI list :(

Hope that he recovers soon for the Tigers sake.

They said the same thing about Simmonds this time last year and he missed half the season. It is shame not to see Cotchin get injured, but it is not like a first year player is a vital player to us.

And being bottom aged as well, I wouldn't have thought he'd have too much of an impact this year.

Definately wont hamper the tigers , as HBF said , he's young and wouldn't be likely to play too many games this year anyway . Another year or two (maybe three) before he starts to shine i think .

Like others on this thread , I don't care who richmond beat either - as long as we smash 'em .

the 8 week stint on the side lines is due to complications with his achillies tendon which was a result from the broken ankle/foot... its not just a rest or some way of elevating a rookie etc etc...

but good luck and hopefully he can become a star and then Richmond can trade him to us :p
