Is it plausable to say he's a chance? I remember hearing the commentators after our 80 point loss to Collingwood that he was best on ground. 34 possesions and 3 goals, but your team loses by 80 points, will he get votes?

It really comes down to whether or not the umpires are gonna give any votes to the team that gets beaten by a lot of points. Do we get thrashed too often for Cousins to figure or is Cousins playing that well that even in losing by 80 points the umpires will still notice his effort??

Buckley was always a chance in a losing team so will Cousins be a chance?

The problem with cousins is that he is playing for a Western Australian side. Last year Fletcher played brilliantly but it was only when the press in the eastern states started talking about him that he got Brownlow votes.

I think Fletcher and Cousins are different players though. Fletcher is well known for being a tough little midfielder but is not particularly considered a star in todays game whereas Cuz is certainly a star. And WA players do get noticed, Matera was runner up twice in the 90's.

On Peter Matera, probably one of the best players never to win a brownlow, he certainly deserved one.

Not a hope :(

It is the umpires medal. They pick the votes. Watch the count. If Eagles lose we NEVER get a vote. If we win usually an opponent is in the votes. So there are 10 matches Cuz will get zippo in and Banfield was best against Freo. So a maximum of 8 points so far for Cuz.

As for Roo, if he had played in Victoria two Brownlows would have been certainties.

I always thought the brownlow was awarded to the Best & Fairest Player , not the best player on the winning team. The voting should not in any way be influenced by the score line.

If a player kicks 5 goals and gets 45 possessions, but his team gets belted by 140pts, while the oppositions best player gets 25 possessions, does he still get man of the match honours?

Cousins has a good chance of winning the brownlow, especially considering there hasn't really been a standout player all season.

I hope your right D4E, i thought when Matera failed to win a Brownlow that the Eagles wouldnt have a Brownlow Medalist for a long time but Cousins is certainly a chance this year. I cant remember the last game where he didnt get 30+ possesions. How many did he get against Brisbane?

I wouldn't put my money on him winning the brownlow this year. Most Brownlow winners come from clubs who are doing successfully on field. I really think Buckley or Hird will win in this year, purely due to the form their sides are having this year.

I dont think Buckley has a chance. Lockyer, Fraser and others will take votes off him plus he's missed two games and he hasnt been in that good a form. If anything he's been kinda quiet this year. He has had a couple of huge games but not on a regular basis.
