Even so, it is absolute bullshit that a semi-final can be decided by an incorrect decision. It happened right infront of me and the only person that was pushed int he back was Otten who took the mark. Medhurst pushed him into it.

just a shame the free was for a hold??? :confused:
 
The free was there EVERY day of the week...we goot stop looking for excuses........The are far more reasons we lost and they all involve us as a Finals team.....Baffling tactics by Craig once again.
 
It was a holding free, which was there. Should've won the game if we kicked straight in the second. If they were 50-60 down at half time instead of 30 they may not have had the mental strength to get a run on in the third. Next year is our real opportunity, we punched above our weight this year.
 
He kept saying that we were a young developing team, but by and large or youngsters stood up tonight it was the old bridage to a degree that let us down.

Burton 32 years old another failed final,couldnt even run after half time.

Shirley 3 kicks and about 12 link handballs

Edwards made some crucial errors

that isnt the fault of a young developing team.

Reality is that yet again we fell into the same trap of relying too much on the same players that havent gotten us over the line for the last 2 years.

Until we move some guys on and bring in guys like Walker etc we will continue to flounder in September.
 
All the young guys were terriffic as most have mentioned. Once we start some more developing we'll get some real success.
 
Didn't think I'd post tonight - too shattered - but if we kicked those three absolute sodas in the 2nd quarter we would've been 8 goals up at half time instead of 4.

Don't really know what else to say.
 
THe young fellas were terrific. We lost because of our accuracy in the 2nd quarter. I think we kicked something like 1.3?. IMO it was a alright night. Atmosphere was great. The only thing that made this night bad was probably adelaide losing in the end.
 
Knights two late in the first coupled with 3-4 easy misses in the second gave the Pies a sniff, and they charged in, we wern't quick enough to react, and suffered the ultimate price.

We have to settle and try and focus a bit more positively, rightly so,we're all fuming now, but we weren't going to win many more games playing 2 quarters.

Enjoy the few weeks off lads, there's work to do.

yeh well the same thing happened to tippett time and time again where was the free kick on those occasions. I haven't seen a replay other then at the game so can't really comment on the rutten incident but i clearly saw at the same contest Otten getting pushed in the back. If most people on here think it was a free then I will take your word for it.

Its just frustrating that a free kick (a soft one at that) that hasn't been consistently given during the game is what decides the match!

And if it is for holding the arm then what about the one on Maric on the wing in the third quarter. That was the most obvious one I've seen, he's running towards our 50 and you can see his arm being held in a collingwood players hand.

Its just crap that there isn't any consistency and one team pays a heavy price.

Crows lost it in the 2nd & 3rd quarters!

Yeh when we were 4-5 goals in-front, they were playing as thought they were 4-5 goals down. No doubt collingwood's pressure played a part but you have to keep doing what put you 4-5 goals up in the first place.

i agree with you though, the consistency is just crap!
 
At the game I couldn't for the life of me see it, I was livid!

Definately a dumb hold, though I wish they'd call them on Kurt (I aknowledge he was paid 3 frees, but he is consistantly scragged).

Agree Maric in the forwardline, Thommo in the forwardline, Porps in the backline, Tippett in the backline I was honestly shaking my head in disbelief, we lost the game tonight after 1/4 time simple as that.

we lost because of those misses in the 2nd and the 4th - I can understand pressure of the fourth quarter taking its toll as the pies also had some easy misses but the 2nd qtr there were 3 shots from 30m out, Reilly's especially was poor (not to single him out in any other sense), and we simply could have wrapped up the game.

So gutted. Bussed home with a bunch of collingwood supporters and they were giving it to me the whole ride.

Adelaide kicked 6 goal to 1 in the first quarter and had a record amount of disposals (100 more than Collingwood), I'd say that's fairly dominant.
 
Craigy is the best coach in the afl, this man deserves a premiership more then anyone. The way he has turned this club around is quite remarkable, and the fact that before the season and even at the mid season mark everyone including our supporters didn't really think we were going to be a 'top 4' side, considering this is was still a 'rebuilding' year just goes to show what a class act NC and his team are (not just on field but off field as well, he's very gracious in defeat, and thinks things trough rather then get caught up in the moment) and I can't wait til next season!!!

Bring it on BOYS!!!!!!!!!

We weren't - and it showed all season.

The best of a clearly mediocre to downright hopeless bunch.

No doubt there was a big, big gap between the top 4 and the rest.

People can talk about possesions, I50s - and everything else like that, but when the game has been on the line - we've come up short against the quality every SINGLE time, apart from the 1st game of the season.

Let's not delude ourselves - good frontrunners - picking off the clubs below us with generally, relative ease. But when the stakes were high, all season - we were well behind where we needed to be.

When the pressure was on - we tended to shit it - and it happened again tonight, in the biggest game of the season.
