Crickets

I'm not sure if its just in my area or what, but there seems to be an over abundance of crickets and they are fricken annoying me. Its like there are hundreds surrounding my house whistling away.

Has there been a cricket invasion that I'm not aware of? I'm sure its not usually this bad.

I'd have thought it was the cicadas, not the crickets making all the noise. C'mon, Bigfooty's got to have a resident entomologist (it's got everything else) ... which ones are louder?

we get these clicking beetles or whatever they are called. They are most annoying.

I had three sleepness nights because one of those little buggers got in my bedroom once. Same story as you EssJayW, I get up it stops, I lie down it starts again, making it impossible to find the bastard. I bet the little **cker was laughing at me too!

I usually take insects outside but these little buggers get stomped on

It's the weather, hot and humid, well sorta hot. They are friggin loud though.

I guess this sorta noise doesn't occur often in cities? I'd have to actually make an effort to listen to hear crickets here, I'm that used to them.

I actually find the sound of crickets outside my window quite relaxing.. I guess that has to do with growing up in the country.

For me, I hate staying in the city with friends, the sound of cars outside keep me awake all bloody night.

Yeah, it is relaxing. The silence when they're not there is actually quite obvious. Although I don't have the problems when staying in the city, I live on a main road and am used to plenty of trucks going past.

Yeah I don't mind the sound of crickets usually but atm there are so many that the sound is very loud and piercing. The pitch seems to go up when there's a lot of them.

Same. Annoys other people but I hardly notice them. Much like living nxt to a train line for 8 years. After while you don't even notice the trains going past. But I digress.

There seems to be a cicada farm in the car park at work. They usually ark up about 10am and don't shut up until we all go home. It's probably just the females though.
