I heard the crowd groan 16 times after each of our goals but I suspect you weren't referring to the reactions to the cat growls over the PA...

No- Dont get me started on the cat growl..............
Maybe it was just really apparent on the radio broadcast I was listening to.
Made listening to the game really annoying, because the crowd would groan ahead of the commentary and you would know something bad had happened. Never really noticed it that much in the past.

'Crowd groans per game'- Never heard so many as I have in a half today
Says it all............
Criticised for too quiet.

Criticised for too loud.

The best groan was the last. Blicavs shot at goal was a bit like a golfers fade shot. When it came off the boot the crowd groaned, but when it started to fade towards the goal the groans quickly turned into cheers. These type of "fade" shots are more commonly done from in front of the Ford Stand. It sounds quite funny when the initial groan suddenly turns into a cheer.

They did a poll on it and apparently got voted to stay. Ridiculous.
I personally didn't vote on it but I would have voted for it to stay. Don't mind it personally, after all you can't complain about a democratic system. The people have spoken!!

I haven't been down to KP for a while, but it used to be a ground at which groans were a pretty common thing. Hard to say how the groan levels compared to the other suburban grounds a few years ago (Vic Park, Western Oval etc), maybe Geelong fans were a little less blindly supportive of their teams or perhaps felt more regularly let down. Perhaps that's why we're a little quieter in the good times at KP, but ready to groan when things aren't going well.

'Lairising' seemed to be a common groan-inducing theme, where we'd overuse the ball and it would come unstuck. Or simply when a player does something that you sort of knew he was going to do, and not in a good way. Kent Kingsley used to draw a lot of groans, Billy Brownless too. Steve Johnson I'd say would have healthiest groan stats of this modern group. I'd imagine also Varcoe would have generated a lot of actual groans also at KP in recent times, if online virtual groans were anything to go by.

I hate the Geelong groan! It seems to be something our supporters do more than others.

Someone near me called out during Freo game "listen to the anti-roar" or "listen to the anti-cheer"

If you're referring to those low, slice kicks that almost immediately skim across the ground he's been the last two years that 9/10 times turn into turnovers, then yeah, I would say that deserves a groan, as I saw even his own team mates drop their hands to their sides, and hunch over shaking their heads.
That crap needs to stop. Hate to say it, but the clear top 4 teams thus far, you don't see those kind of things. You see clean passing of the ball, footy 101.

Yeah those kicks, and some of the handballs, particularly the lookaways. Also I couldn't say for sure but it also seems like Johnno has turned on to his left side a lot more in the last few years than he used to, and I don't think he's really that good a kick of the left boot. Sometimes it seems unnecessary. You can also see him making multiple assessments in his head when he has the footy, option 1, 2, 3, and maybe either taking the wrong one or executing too late when he's under the pump or teammates are out of position. That seems to infect the whole group at times.

I probably mark him really hard though, which probably stems from the 2008 GF, where I thought he played a stinker despite the high possessions, with a couple of costly moments where he could have kept it simple. I only saw it at the ground, so I'd have to watch it on the telly to confirm....maybe one day i'll watch it.:( He was great in the 2011 GF though, as if the knee injury forced him to keep it simple.

There was some talk on SEN this week around the way Essendon are playing at the moment, something along the lines of Hird giving them some licence where he doesn't mind what decision they make with the footy as long as they make it quickly and decisively, almost first option type stuff. That's good footy to watch, even with the inevitable mistakes. When we're paralysed by indecision and then cough it up it's very difficult to watch.

Yep. Good old Kent was right up there in groan city. We had a few groan inducing FFs. Bill B had his days.
Anyone remember Larry Donahue ? He was a crowd groan favourite.
As I said in OP, it should be in the stats...
eg : SJ on Sunday x kicks, x handpasses, 25 groans :p
