Any one else notice that. There were definitely more Richmond fans there of the 83k but they were creating so little noise. What's the reason for this? My theory is that we are sick of having our emotions toyed with in Carlton games, so we never got overexcited when we kicked goals. Happy with the win but, just saying :p

At the ground it was pretty loud. The TV is rubbish for atmosphere, 7 deliberately turn the crowd noise down.

Was the same at dreamtime last year. It's the crowded style of footy which makes it hard for forwards to make leads and take big marks which is boring the fans a bit.

I was there and it was nothing compared to what I am used to attending Richmond games
Fair enough, where did you sit? I was in the Ponsford and was some serious noise when Grigg kicked his goal in the last.

The home team now gets a huge "boost" with the lights display around the ground and through the big screens. It almost made you feel like you weren't welcome as the away team.
Will take a win over noise any day though!

It's because we weren't seated at the Punt Road end. I'm actually being serious. Cheersquad looks out of place in the Ponsford stand. This is actually 20% of the reason. 80% of the reason is because WGAF about beating Carlton anymore.

Yeah I was on level 2 directly above our cheer squad. It's funny, despite the mixed reception that he gets, I felt that the crowd hit its peak in both of Griggs goals.

Sound like Norf fans

All I know is, everytime Carlton kicked a goal I died a little inside, having to see that ridiculously annoying goal advertisement definitely dampened my mood throughout the game. They have the worst mascot ever. It's literally just a person who looks to be on roids...

Was definitely a tamer crowd. That first Grigg goal was huuuuuge though!! After a run of 3 or 4 goals. I think it was big because he ran his full measure and we all knew what was coming. But yes....barely could hear the crowd on the replay.

Oh wow, I just watched the highlights video, and crowd noise was incredibly quiet compared to the commentators' voices. Wasn't like that at the ground at all.

Yes, from the stands I could barely hear the commentators at all in their little box...

Seriously though, I couldn't even hear the Carlton cheer squad over the noise of the grog squad. Well done boys and girls :thumbsu:

That first Grigg goal was as loud as I've heard in a while! It always sounds way louder when you're at the game, it's just the way it is. I went to watch the second Carlton vs Richmond game in 2012 with only 45 odd thousand people there and I was blown away by the noise, but I guess that's because I live in Tassie and I'm not as lucky as a lot of you guys who live close to the G :D

More nerves I think. Too often been rundown by those downhill skiers.
