Expansion Crowds in the low 20,000's early doors for WS

Interesting, on the tv the whole wing and behind the goals at the other end seemed to be essendon supporters. I am aware giants fans sit on the camera side but 500 essendon fans to 8k giants fans is a massive stretch.

The only time there were a real lot of opposition fans at Giants Stadium (besides games against the Swans) was for the so-called
"greatest game ever played", the 2016 Prelim between the Giants and the Dogs. There were a lot of Dogs fans there, and they
were very loud and probably helped their team get over the line in a game that could have gone either way. At H & A games
at either Sydney venue, Collingwood probably get the most away support. But that shouldn't surprise anyone. They were a bit
sparse on Saturday at the SCG though, and if they were there they didn't have much to get excited about after 1/4 time.

No doubt the most disappointing aspect ten years in is the lack of growth in crowds at the Showgrounds.

As a regular attendee my observation is that there seems to be a hardcore of about 8,000 Giants fans at each game with the total attendance dependent on the opposition club.

Doesn't help that Parra and Penrith are doing extremely well in NRL.

IMO:
- the colours/uni aren't great (similar to GC) and they're similar to a part-western sydney NRL club;
- the name is a mouthful whether said in full or abbreviated;
- the name has no real meaning in NSW lay-mans speak;
- the home ground might be centrally located in the Sydney metro with public transport access, but there's no life in the area. it is also too far east of Western Sydney heartland.

The Swans have averaged over 30K for most of this century.

The Giants will be fine long term no matter how slow they grow.

They are already raising up to $20million in their own revenue and the extra ~$10M they get from the AFL is a drop in the ocean to AFL revenues.

In 2030 they'll be a 20 year old club and probably have a metro running to their stadium.

Inclined to agree with this. This whole idea that the Giants are really struggling is just off the mark. They've made the finals four
of the last five years, and are only one kick from being in the eight now. Their home crowd numbers aren't surging, but which teams
are at the moment. That's right, none of them. All these weird comments on here re things like their jumper colours. Orange and Grey...
yep, they are colours... so what. Or their name... which of course is totally fine. It's like people have forgotten they are in Sydney.
There is a lot of money here and there are only two teams. Hence both Sydney teams do really well when it comes to sponsorship.
The Giants only receive five or six million a year more in AFL funding than teams like the Saints and North that have been around
since the dawn of time. Yes, players leave but a whole bunch of them don't too. Their player turnover isn't any different from
anybody else. They are going to be around for a long long time.
