Bit annoyed that I'll be in Adelaide this weekend and miss the first two events but I might play the PLO on Monday. Borg said he'll play the PLHO and Knowledge is playing the Main Event. Anyone else?

The Croc has won both Crown HORSE events to date. Can he make it three from three?

Re: Deep Stack series

I'm really looking forward to this. Have only played 1 deep stack tournament online and never at a Casino. Should be a good experience.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

LOL forgot there must have already been a thread on this. My bad. Thanks for fixing Schmorgsta.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

From TD Jonno:

Online Entries for the first two events of the Joe Hachem Deepstack Series have now closed. There are currently 124 entries into Saturday's event and 105 into Sunday's. Both tournaments will be locked out at 400 players.

Planning on playing the $175 PLHE/PLO event

just a few questions
Would i be able to turn up about half an hour before and register or do you have to pre-register?
Im not a member of crown poker club and it says you need "Category A Identification". What does that mean? would just a drivers licence be okay?

Thanks for any help

1 I asked at Crown the other day and they said I'd be fine just turning up and registering for that event. However probably best off getting there an hour before it starts to avoid any problems.

2 Should just be drivers license. However if it is any more just go upstairs and get a Crown club which needs only the drivers license. Can be done in 5 minutes.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

Seems to be a hell of a lot of people playing the PLHE and PLO event.

Could be quite soft if you were an expert in either format.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

apparently day 1 of the Me is sold otu.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

So there I was 5:30 at work, whiling away the time with some Bigfooty surfing when I come across this thread.

OOh I think, Omaha Hi at Crown with deep stacks, I hear it calling my name.

For those new to the Poker Forum I run at about $1.77 return per dollar invested in online Omaha, though having said that, I've played very little in the past year or so.

Even moreso I've actually played very little poker full stop lately, I've just lost the passion.

So basically in the last 4 months I've played a $5 NLHE tourney that I lost interest with half way through and a $3 Horse tourney in which I cashed as well as a couple of cash sessions at Crown based around Christmas parties etc

But I'm keen to play this Omaha, one problem, Mrs wants me to bring home milk for the little one and i live 45-50 mins out of town...........

So to cut a long story short and you can all see I'm posting at 3:30am I pont the rocket ship towards Crown and fly in.

Ominous sign no.1, we start with 5 people, and these pricks are raising everything, I don't even catch a sniff, nearly one hour in I'm down to just over 5000 having not done anything, I get let off big time when with my first actual bet on a T755 board my 77 with $1000 bet on river gets flat called by TT, given I had the other T, he had a chance to be a lot richer.

So last hand before break, I raise pre flop, I flop nut flush and open ended straight draw, pot it, 2 callers, hit the perfect 8 for my straight and pot it again, no callers and I'm sitting back at about 9200, 800 down.

And I'm literally shaking, ring the Mrs and say I won't be hom to late, I'm being outplayed, and am as tired as hell with the worry of caffeine=awake v more drink means more toilet stops, 2 hours 'til next break.

We split tables and I'm about 7000, win 2 in a row on new table and start on the upward track k68 call a raise 8 hits again and he pots it against my k8 and I'm off.

Split again and new table, early on sitting next to Yoda character I look from the SB at AAxx with 4 callers, I call, Yoda pots it from the BB, 1 caller, I re pot it, fold fold.

Yada yada yada, 2nd break I'm on 43000 with 20000 average chip stack.

Do nothing for the next 2 hours wittling down to mid 20's when bang bang, I raise re raise and take down a pot with a Q.

One more and I've won 2 pots in 3 hours and sit on 63000 chips against a 35000 average.

At this point when you add it up, Ive done very little wrong, starting to get confident but still playing tight.

Down to last 40, paying 20 of 180 starters

Push nut flush draw, with QQ overs against chip leader costing me 20000 on his call call 2 pair. My bets seemed to have a lot of respect, but he had a read/couldn't fold??

Potted a marginal hand pre flop and got raised on the flop with no room for improvement and let it go.

Down to about 35000 with 25 remaining 65000 average, nice guy next to me, who I've been chatting with for a while completes from SB with 2000-4000 blinds.

I pot it with Axx5 (suited Ace and xx = pair of face cards)

Flop KKT

He pots it. I know he's loosish and he's caught at least 3 rivers to still be alive, I also know that he knows I'm tight

I take my time count my chips etc and ponder his move, (he has me just covered and the call is for another 18ish of approx 23000 behind me)

In the back of my mind is that 25 remaining paying 20 it's bubble time.

But the more I think about it, I definitely don't put him on TT or KT and I have the Royal Flush draw, so if I call, I still think a flush is good.

But I can't even put him on K

Why would he not check and why would he pot it, he wants me to fold.

I put him on a T

All in, he calls

I roll over my Axx5 saying you should be in front

He rolls over T976

I have a higher 2 pair so he needs 9 or runner runner

75000 pot

Turn 7, river 7.

Those who know my poker or have even had a marginal interest in my posts know what my xx was. I even said it to myself when i potted pre flop.

So bubbled out in 25th paying 20 on a 75000 pot

87% chance when the money went in

and there ends my poker career, I honestly can't take it anymore.

7.5 hours of great solid poker for that shyte to happen at that time, all over/had it, and with my favourite hand too :(

On the plus side the deep stack format was great, was enjoyable to get to play poker at a Crown tourney.

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

Sorry to hear that ol Falchy baby. Crown being Crown, of course, results aren't up yet. **** they're hopeless.

I half considered playing but I was asleep by 7pm and didn't arise until 9am.

I doubt I'll play any events :(

Re: Joe Hachem Deep Stack Series @ Crown

PS: Falchoon, be proud of your efforts. Where possible, short term results should be ignored. When we only play occasionally, be it cash games or tournaments, the importance of each result gets magnified to a level it shouldn't. You know, it's all one long session, with ups and downs.

You played well, and it's arguably safe to say that you were one of few people playing the PLO event that had +EV, except unfortunately, it just didn't materialise. Chin up son :thumbsu:

The problem when you go through it, is that is basically 8 times on end where I lose the biggest pot of the night when I'm a mile in front with the money going in.

Conversely I don't often get a whole lot of money in when I'm behind so I don't get to reverse the beats.

On the plus side it was a friggin mighty good read.

oh and AJJ5 for those wondering
