Just wanted to give the club a thumbs up. The kids had Auskick after school today and got a visit from six of the boys. They had a great time and certainly got a kick out of it.

My lad got a real thrill out of tackling Sloaney and taking a screamer over Matty Jaensch.

They were brilliant with the kids and they all had a great time.

Good stuff. Hope Sloaney didn't vomit on him though?

Ha, Ha. Not quite. He was a big hit with the kids though!

He does it at school. Mercedes College.

In all seriousness though, I love stuff like this and how much of a thrill it must give the kids to tackle their heroes.

You can imagine the sheer joy for any one of us adults (mostly) if we got to have a kick to kick with Sloaney, let alone 8-11 year old kids who will remember it their entire lives, and probably be talking about it on this forum in 10 years time when Sloaney plays his 300th.

We're in a really advantageous position of not having to share this market with 11 other teams and in all reality stuff like this is so crucial to our support base in 20 years when the inaugural members are too old to go to the footy anymore. When I was growing up a lot of kids barracked for an SANFL team and a VFL team, usually who their favourite players from the SANFL had been signed by, and kept supporting Essendon or Carlton even after 1991 because that loyalty was too hard to break. Hopefully these days the kids are growing up supporting the Crows because of AusKick sessions with Danger, Tex and Sloaney.

I remember years ago having some football clinic thing at Elizabeth oval - I really don't remember how it was organised or what it was about but our group got taken by Rod Jameson. There was one drill where he was rolling the ball towards two of us and we had to compete over the ball and get the ball back to him... I must've been on some absolute plodder because I managed to scoop up the ball and, in BT's words, showed him some candy, and got around him to handball it back to Jameson..... I still remember Rod's response.... "..a la Peter Matera!"

I had a giant shit eating grin on my face for the rest of the day...

Warren Tredder's once came to Trinity Old Scholars up north and I shook his hand. *softest*hands*evers*
ahem... Back to the crows tho...

I think this is terrific and good on the club.
But I love the bolded part. :D

I remember Ben Hart coming to my school when I was about 10. You wouldn't believe it but he was up himself and rude. Was really upset by his attitude. I was totally disillusioned for a few years after that.

I also remember going to a cricket clinic a few years after that at Westminster. James Brayshaw and Tim May were there and a couple others I don't remember, maybe Greg Blewett? JB was awesome. Picked me to bat first when he was going to teach us how to play a bouncer. He bowled a full toss to me first up so I ducked how he taught us, but it bowled me. I didn't even get to hit a ball :(

Cool story bro.

Are you calling me a liar?

I imagine if he was calling you a liar he might say something like "You Danoz are a liar". Or "You completely made up that story about Hart because he is a champ and you make things up" or "There is no end to the slanderous things you say and there is not a true bone in your body" or "stop making stuff up, you liar".

If someone were calling you a liar they might say things like that i imagine.

Probably something like that.
I spend most of my bigfooty time at the SFA fantasy footy game. You don't fit in if you aren't sarcastic. "Cool story bro" is generally someone saying that you are a liar.

Slippery Pete if you were being genuine, then i apologise :p

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. It's a true story anyway.

It's perfectly believable, I just like saying cool story bro.

Also, the bit about being dissolusioned left you open a bit.... Harden up son!

In all honesty though, I often think it's better not to meet your heroes.

:D I was 10! I agree though, sometimes it would be better not to.
