People can bag collingwood or even the Crows for their finals records but the fact remains they were in the finals to lose the finals. Its all great to go in with hindsight and with the knowledge of the result and make an opinion but I just don't see the point

We lost a 50-50 game interstate to a side who finished above us on the ladder at their home ground with the last kick of the game.

So far this year we have won more finals than 10 teams and just as many as the other 5....

Only 2 teams will have more finals wins than us this year. Just thought I'd put that out there.

And yes whilst we continue to rebuild and make the finals we get criticized for not winning cup after cup whilst doing so.

We lose finals because we arent good enough, there are some players who supporters and club fall back in the habit of entrusting when we get to September and dont back in our youngsters enough.

Don't know how you can compare the loss of a 50-50 game with a team of predominantly youngsters with Collingwood's unbelievably poor Grand Final record over a century or so. We are good enough to be in the top half of teams, but not good enough to be in the top 2. Simple as that.

only true finals results that are important are 2005-7 and whenever this group peaks, its a credit to the club that they've managed to stay in the finals in between these periods whilst we've been rebuilding, but losing finals to better teams in this period doesnt mean a heap.

I hope Craigy doesn't cop too much flack. Interestingly, we would have had an almost identical recent finals record to the Pies had we won, but Mick is touted as a genius whereas Craigy is just the thinker.

How refreshing !!!! Some sanity and objectivity in assessing performance / results !!! Quite unlike the something.or.other jerking reaction of a few others.

Was devastated with the loss. Wanted to break something badly, very badly. However, we simply weren't good enough on the night - and we are demonstrably NOT a lucky side, we have to MAKE our own luck.

A good side (of hard-bitten scraggers) would execute just about any game plan especially the defensive mode for a while. We just weren't quite up to it and coughed it up too many times too easily.

There was no way we'd punish Geelong or the Saints on that type of performance, even if we'd won. Then again, we'll never find out now.

What is really good is that the makings of a hard side are there. Soft efforts don't win finals games, and now they have it burned into them for a second year in a row that they have to fight and scrap and hang tough all game.Till the last ffing kick.
