Ctrl+Left Click in Windows Explorer

Hey all,

For some reason the Ctrl+Left Click in Windows Explorer no longer opens a seperate / new Explorer window.

Has anyone comes accross this before? i have noticed quite a bit that it will work on some PC's, but not others. I have yet to find a solution on Google (as most of the answers relate to Internext Explorer, not Windows Explorer)

A solution would be grealtey appreicated. I have looked through the folder options but cant see anything.

Sorry, was on XP. But for some reason it magically started working again?

Still would like to know if there is a way to switch this on / off. And if it applies to Vista / 7 too

If you click the scroller in the middle of your mouse it does the same thing. Even less effort required

Ctrl+mouse scroller opens a new tab in Internet Explorer (or any other browser), but not Windows Explorer as per OP.

Easiest way to open a new Windows Explorer window from anywhere is just Windows Key+E

Yeah not after IE, hate that program with a passion, looks like my work has blocked firefox so i have to go back to using it

I know the Windows + E key and its great, use it all the time.
But as that only opens up the My Computer screen, was hoping to go "Up One Level" or "Back in a new window.

The PC im using has just started working again though, not too sure what ive done differently...

You can change the folder that Explorer opens up in when you launch it:
