Chapman has every supporters vote

Many players do not play for the club

The culture has not changed and we get the same crap

I agree with King for ounce, at the end of the year lets have a clean out

Milburn has not seen the culture chande in 13 years so I say lets change as more of the same will get us nowhere

If a player or coach is not willing to show pride and passion then they should leave now as it is the most homourable thing

In the meantime we will finish mid table which will result in another lost year

I say play Varcoe, Jiry, Selwood, Hawkins, Stokes, Blake, West, N Ablett , Prismall etc.

Give the young ones a go and trade like hell at the end of the year. Lets change direction if not we will be in the same boat

How daming on the club that a player like Chapman can say what he did, and we all say WE ALL KNOW

Yeah I suppose so. I suppose part of the culture is that everyone's a mate and no-one wants to upset anyone else, but I LOVE Chappie's analogy about it being like a war - you do what you have to, life is short, f*** whoever it upsets. Perfect, that's what we need to weed out - as much as it makes for a gentle environment, we shouldn't have time for that with the requirement for a competitive mindset.

They are not there to be mates and cover for themselves.
When Selwood is captain I bet this crap will not permeate through the club
We wamt a wining culture, cut throat as this may be
Why play KIng when he is not ready, because of past glory?
I have no time for sympathy, the coach and players are not what I expect from a club I support
Cook should have cut to the bone
(P.S. If Scarlett can intimidate the club the way he does he should be traded) bring in [Creswell and make them sweat At least I know their mind will be on the job

Playing young kids, changing the playing list etc. is not changing the culture.

Clearing out the board, starting afresh with a new coach etc. is changing the culture.

We need a power-hungry CEO, as much as it kills me to say it, we need an Eddie McGuire.

I'll be graduated at the end of next year ;)

Since the Pies were resurrected from 16th in 1999 to back-to-back GFs they fell to 13th in 2004 and 15th in 2005. Eddie couldn't stop that.

What was the status of the GFC "culture" in 2004 when (perhaps) we were the best team in Victoria?

If our culture is so insipid why have we never finished in the bottom four in the last 20 years? Surely we'd be anchored to the bottom of the ladder if this mythical "culture" was so overwhelming? Where did Carlton's and Essendon's "winning culture" go when both teams couldn't manage 4 wins last year?

The fact is that we have a reasonable list (a deep list, an even list but one devoid of much elite football talent) and it is pretty rare for a team to be premiership contenders when they haven't had a single All Australian selection for 2 years; even the most recent one was Scarlett at FB. Geelong hasn't had one midfielder or forward make the AA team for a very, very long time.

Without having studied it, I think you'd find that every premiership team would have had several players who had been selected in the AA team in the preceding two seasons before the team won the GF. We have none!

Four of the past five Bendigo league premierships have been won by Gisborne. The only exception was 2004 when it was won by Sandhurst. Sandhurst played as an amateur team that season due to financial issues and with the agreement of the players.

Joel Selwood understands sacrifice.

The fact that the Pies even got to two GFs with their list says a lot about their culture.

You seem to be assuming that culture is the only thing that dictates performance. Clearly its not. Talent, maturity, size, strength, coaching , luck and many other factors also impact.

Maybe the difference for us in 2004 was that we had a very, very young side that hadn't yet been "infected" with the culture - a bit like the Selwoods, Prismalls, Varcoes, Hawkins', etc of this year.

Ridiculous, we have one of the best CEO's in the country!

We all agree Richmond have a poor "culture" as well but with all the cleanouts they have had nothing has changed in 20 years. The responsibility rests with the playing group about 80% and the coaching staff about 20%.
