Hey guys, on Monday the phone I've been using for the last couple of years crapped out on me so now I'm in the market for a new one. Unfortunately, I know sweet **** all about what I should be looking for nowadays.

Basically I need advice on what's out there at the moment. I'm with Optus at the moment and I'd rather stick with pre-paid because I'm likely to forget how much I've spent.:p I'm open to a plan though if it's really the best deal.

Any help would be ace.:thumbsu:

Cheers for the help, that site is awesome. I'm thinking a Motorola Backflip at the moment, still going to keep my eye out but from the sounds of it it seems to have most of the specs in a simple design.

I had a Motorola E1ROKA, I will never have a Motorola again! I also had the Samsung Omnia and also, will never have a Samsung again! As I have had a Nokia n73 and it will be the last Nokia I purchase! From experiance, Sony Ericson's are REAL nice as are Blackberry's and HTC's!

HTC make great android phones
i've got a Desire and i love it. check gsmarena and maybe the whirlpool forums if you're wanting some real word feedback on all types of phones. whirlpool is pretty active, but watchout for fanbois of various types

I have the HTC Desire. Most of my iphone carrying friends wish they waited a little longer like I did for a smart phone with such a great upside.

I am loving the Android OS.

Depends what you need your phone to do.

Most only need it to make calls, text and use the web occasionally.

Most people buy iPhones just because they look good and Apple makes them so they have to have one. Others buy phones for the basics which is all they need and save hundreds of dollars and don't lose any street cred contrary to the popular belief of iPhone owners.

If you need a business/smart phone with all the bells and whistles, HTC shit all over iPhones.

I have the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which also runs Android OS and I love it. Was contemplating waiting for the iPhone 4 and glad I didn't with all the dramas that has had.

HTC Desire was another one I was looking at which also looks to be a good phone.

iPhone, no ifs or buts, best phone hands down!

You are kidding aren't you? Anyone within the industry or has any industry knowledge will tell you otherwise for a many and varied reasons.

I know at least 10 people through work and also socially that have had battery issues alone. Given it is not hot swappable (is that a word?, lol) this is not ideal. Don't even get people started on how easily the screens are damaged...It is like they are made from wafer.

samsung galaxy S

great phone at 49 a month

best deal on the market IMO

Yep, got this phone today. So far, very good.

However, how do i change my ringtone? Like, how do i add my own specific ringtone of my own choice, not the standard ones on the phone.

HTC have made an app for twitter called peep, its perfectly fine for me, but there are many more that you could try including the official twitter app from the site itself. facebook official app leaves a lot to be desire IMHO, and from what people coming from IOS say, its much better on the iphone. i just use the touch site. The real power of android is widgets and background synching, so all u need to do is check if you have any notifications in the android toolbar.
