Former Eagles and Richmond AFL star Ben Cousins is in a Perth hospital after falling and hitting his head while undergoing further rehab at a specialist clinic.

It was reported on thewest.com.au that the confessed drug addict had fallen, hitting his head on the floor in what is being described as a relapse in his battle against addiction.

The 33-year-old was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on Monday where his condition is described as stable.

A shame, but unfortunately once an addict always an addict. While I love the efforts that Cousins put in on the field for us over the years, this is precisely the reason that he shouldn't have any official role within the club in the foreseeable future, despite many forum members suggesting otherwise.

I can't imagine what he's thinking, he should be at home with his partner and child, not out on the gear.

It goes to show the kind of hold drugs can have on a person unfortunately. To watch cousins on the field and be amazed at his determination to succeed was inspirational stuff its such a pity someone with such a strong mindset can be so weak in other circumstances.
I was hoping to hear the birth of his child would be the turning point for him but it seems he's not as determined as I thought he would be and know he could be.

the fact this incident happened inside a rehab clinic is somewhat comforting though I suppose, atleast he's trying.

It wasn't said that he was on the gear. There are many reasons why he was at the clinic. To see a psychiatrist for one.

But, all the best to Ben.

I get the feeling, unlike Fevola, Cousins didn't burn any bridges at West Coast, could/is he working in any small role to keep him occupied in Perth?
Or is West Coast not ready to open it's doors again?

He has attended a few social events ie the best and fairest and the 25th anniversary dinner in the last year and im pretty sure he had coffee with woosha a year ago to touch base and see where he is at in his life.

Other than that i do not think the eagles are ready to let him in an offiical role.

But i really do hope he gets better though.
