2-2 +13.0 [ 14-33 +9.25]

r6 Ascot - Mr Mankini ($14 Sportsbet)

way over the odds and runs really well fresh. was super last prep without winning which really hurt the pockets twice. 3rd prep now should really have furnished. i don't know what to make of the first time barefoot and trial which it was basically under a stranglehold along the rail even approaching the line. sticky gate but has ability to race anywhere it wants.

Canterbury - Race 1 - 8.Duke De Vega

3-12, -7

Moone Valley - Race 7 - 13.Holler @ BOB

Rebel Dane looks the obvious but don't think his record at the Valley is as good as some people are making out. Holler was dominant here on Cox Plate day (supported by the pattern) and should get a sit just of Sirbibbie. He should be able to pinch a break on the fave and with the weight advantage might be hard to run down.

Moone Valley - Race 7 - 13.Holler @ BOB $4.60

4-12, -3.4

Hobart - Race 7 - 1.Jerilderie Letter @ BT

Not sure how this horse isn't odds on to be honest. Won the main lead up Tasmania Guineas as favourite and meets virtually the same field here apart from a Victorian stepping out of Maiden company. Could be the case of the obvious horse winning at a better than expected price.

Hobart - Race 7 - 1.Jerilderie Letter @ BT $2.30

5-12, -2.1

Werribee - Race 1 - 3.Eagles Dare @ BT

This did look a decent maiden but has been cut up a bit by scratchings. Eagles Dare was thought highly enough of to debut in a Blue Diamond Preview (admittedly flogged). He was put straight out and came back to run three nice races in maiden company before another break. He looks the pick of the raced brigade here and with natural improvement should be ready to win.

Werribee - Race 1 - 3.Eagles Dare @ BT

5-13, -3.1

Caulfield - Race 4 - 6.Sword Of Light @ BOB

Dominant winner on debut then heavily favoured on New Years Day when scratched at the barriers. The stablemate went on to win that race but all the chat pre race was that this filly is better. Has race experience over half the field as well and should go well.

Caulfield - Race 4 - 6.Sword Of Light @ BOB $6.50

6-13, +2.4

Ballarat - Race 3 - 3.Music Magic @ BT

This is a clash of the cats if ever I've seen one. Music Magic produced a career best the first time she saw dry at her first run this prep when just failing to break her maiden. She should improve for that run and strikes a dry track here again. The fave just has to be risked having run second 5 times from 6 starts.

Ballarat - Race 3 - 3.Music Magic @ BT

7-13, +1.4

Moonee Valley - Race 4 - 1.Got You Double @ BT

Failed two starts back here but then went to Cranbourne to win over this class and distance when well fancied. Beat a couple of his rival's there and with Olly on board he should be able to jump and sit right up on the pace. Hopefully that suits at the cattery tomorrow night and he can go back to back.

Moonee Valley - Race 4 - 1.Got You Double @ BT

7-14, +0.4

Flemington - Race 7 - 5.Wild Rain @ BOB

Absolutely flying at the moment, beating all but the handy Husson Eagle in the MM Sprint at the Gold Coast. Won the Doveton the start before that in a field not much tougher than this and was a huge second down the straight on Oaks day. Ticks a lot of boxes and should go well if holding his form.

Flemington - Race 7 - 5.Wild Rain @ BOB

7-15, -0.6, SR = 32%, ROI = -2.7%

First losing month and wouldn't bee too many months where I'd make a loss with that kind of SR - perhaps just a few too many shorties this month.
