Damian Drum is likely to run for the National Party in the Vic state election.Lets hope he's a better MP than coach.

And for that matter, a better candidate then Paul Couch was at the last state election.

Interesting how so many former Geelong players have recently been involved with the Liberal coalition at state level. Apart from Drum and Couch, Sam Newman applied unsuccesfully for Liberal pre-selection in the late 1980's and Bill Brownless was sounded out by Jeff Kennett to run for the Libs before the last election.

Hard to believe that Brownless would be even sought out for political representation. So desperate are the political establishment to obtain support from the disenchanted public that they consider someone who's public persona is unapologetically clownish, just in the hope his celebrity status would garner a few votes.

That was Jeff Kennett trying to get someone known in Geelong. He also tried to get Barry Stoneham. In the end,he ended up with the most useless politician in Victoria,Ian Cover.

Damian Drum's (former Congupna boy) a good coach, I mean he couldn't turn a sow's ear into a silk purse could he ? , I mean, that's what he had to do to bring success to the Fremantle Dockers (replaced by a fellow GV boy, Chris Conolly) and to the Bendigo Diggers (Is Micky McGuane going to coach there next year ?, i've heard that he's already left Gisbourne).

I hope that he does well as a candidate for the National Party, even though the Nats look like being wiped out in the next election.

Drum is an idiot. He had many advantages at Freo and failed to do anything with them. His behaviour towards certain players was a disgrace and he reaped what he sowed (albeit that his dismissal was very poorly handled).

As for a National Party candidate in the country, well, you list the attributes needed. Maybe he's got them.
