i think he has alot of talent and next year with a bit of fitness behind him he will be a regular in the seniors definately should have been a to 15 pick he will get his fitness and be a star love his aggrssion!:D
 
I watched him today, couldnt say thats the impression I drew. I reckon he needs a kick up the arse

A little bit of aggression is good but too much gives away stupid frees like he did today. Does some of the pretty stuff but needs to work on his contested game to become a accountable defender.

Has a long, long way to go. At this stage I would say he won't make it but I'm hopping to be proved incorrect... needs someone to sit down with him urgently and work out where he wants to be - not least because if he isn't prepared to make the changes required I don't want our club wasting years on his development.

That is spot on. He has always been erratic, some days looks amazing and other's very average. I think think he slid but today's performance probably showed why he did.

I hear he does have a bit of attitude problems but has it actually been confirmed?
 
I saw his first quater and I though "your bewdy this guy could be up for selection next wee." But clearly he has some fitness and on field dicipline issues as his other 3 quaters were all ordinary. Shane Edwards ripped it today which shows you how big a difference there is from VFL to AFL. Conners would struggle at top level, needs to get his fitness up as he already has size. Doubt he will get any AFL call ups this year.
 
Has anyone here actually seen him play? Not on TV. I mean actually seen him in the flesh? I haven't. have you?
And how does a 50m penalty late in the game constitute attitude problems? Give me proof people.
Until I hear from someone who has any credability (and I have none too), I'll wait and see how it all unfolds.
From what I saw on TV today, he has the tools. But what would I know until I drag my sorry arse out to a VFL to actually see him go about it.

Yer got kicked out of his host house about a month ago and is living shane edwards. Got kicked out because he was cuming home at like 4-5 int he morning smashed and his host family had a enough of him.

You guys are way too harsh.

I think I have seen him play live about 5-6 times this year, haven't seen today's yet but I taped it. He took a screamer two weeks ago there's nothing wrong with that :D He is great for a while and when he grows up mentally and physically he'll go a long way. I thought he'd come in and be one of our best first year players this year, but he is going to take a while I now realise.

Connors is one of those players that has enough natural talent to be a big part of the future Tiger team. You guys complain about some of our senior hacks who "try hard" but are untalented - well Daniel is the opposite so far in his short career. On the field he does not have an attitude problem. I've seen him take heavy hits and he gets up and keeps on running without trying to start fights, if the rumours are true then that is off field, not on the field. ;)

If he puts in a lot of effort and is dedicated in building fitness and improving his game then the OP is right - he could be a star. ATM 1 great quarter followed by 3 average ones is where he is at, so it's a long way to go before he's playing 4 brilliant quarters for the AFL :)


But to the poster who said he "won't make it", you are a Richmond supporter so support the kid will ya? He's 18!! Players who have yet to play a game do not deserve to be written off!

As long as it doesnt' impact on his development then I don't mind if he goes out and drinks a bit. He's an 18yo bloke with money and spare time, just hope he doesn't screw his career up... if he follows in Polak's path he will NOT be given the same amount of patience. Polak was pick 4 in the superdraft, Connors is pick 58 and will definately be delisted next year if he screws up too much (just like Gilmour and Mcgrath).
 
To all you eternal optimists out there, this kid is obviously a dick head. Surely slipping thru to pick 58 with his talent would be a big enough kick up the arse to knuckle down. Then he goes and shits in the clubs', and host families' faces by carrying on like a knob when he gets to Richmond. People with this type of mentality rarely make it. Even a cok like Wayne Carey has people say nice things about him from when he was a youngster first in Melbourne. The fact that he would shit on a host family like that really pisses me off.

Shane has such a level head, It'd be a bloody shame to see him tainted by Daniel. Lets hope Shane reins Daniel in instead of it going the other way. :thumbsd:

Many footballers do like it, but only to a certain extent, i really believe Connors can become a very good player if he gets his head right, heard 'alot' of stories of him being a knob and taking the liking of a drink too far
