Just heard this guy will be delisted by the Dogs. Always admired him from afar and whilst the pace may have gone I think he would be an outstanding candidate to Captain our new VFL team but have a role as a Development coach too.

These are the types of characters we need to attract. Having him lead our youngsters would be an asset.

What do others think?

Don't think he'd fit into our AFL team.

First captain of Richmond VFL team, should be an honour. Plus the full time gig of being a development coach. This is what the FTF was for.
I think he'd rather go to a team in a premiership window then play in a VFL team.

Wouldn't most!

Depends if he gets any offers from these clubs. I would certainly throw this his way and see if he is interested.
I reckon Hawthorn/Collingwood will jump at him.

If he is not on the senior list I am all for it, Dev Coach to pay his way, and then i could live with that

I read he's been offered a role in the Bulldogs sport science department, So VFL/ player development may not be where his interests lie

I know he loves the club, but given he wants to keep playing on, maybe moving to another club is his only option

Daniel Cross is one of the hardest workers in the afl and is the ultimate professional. He would set a great standard and be the perfect mentor around the club to the young guys on how hard you have to work to make it at the elite level.

Are you saying we are falling short in this area?

I'd like to think we would bring in someone who could offer a bit more than just working hard.

Na I just think we can continue to strengthen our development coaching, and adding a recently retired afl 200-gamer could help

You'd think he would go to the Dee's. Gametime, coin, coaching role. Perfect fit for them. GWS are the other side I could see having a look at him.

I think there will be offers for his services. As stated, I would forward ours to him.

He is the type needed to build our VFL side. Geelong got Troy Selwood to be that guy who is a leader, good character, great trainer and on field leader. Daniel Cross would be even better.

Offering him a role past his playing days in Development or whatever he wants as well as captaining our young guys is what WE should be offering him. I'd pay him substantially for the role. On field and off the field he would be an asset for our club.

Go get him Benny!

I don't disagree. But he wants to keep playing AFL.

If he is available when our second last or last pick in the PSD lobs, I wouldn't hesitate taking him. Fits the pattern on how we are going about things nowadays. If a Sam Lonergan can get a gig in a couple of games,, Morris can get the Presidency. ;)

I am keen to have Daniel Cross sign a 2 year deal at the tigers. He was one of the Western Bulldog's better players and knowing his hard work, he would find a way to get into the first team.

If he were 28 I'd consider but at 30 he's probably got 2 years at the absolute max in him.

Could see Melbourne or GWS picking him up and getting some quality leadership around the place.

Don't see a need for him. His kicking is shit and he's slow. Top bloke and a hard trainer but I don't think it's worth delisting someone for him. Look back at the last game we played against the dogs and he was hopeless, thankfully I think we've passed the stage where he'd help us, Dees would kill for a good inside mid though.

If he wanted to captain a VFL team, then he would have captained Footscray next year. He'll be at GWS or Melbourne, a team that needs a hard worker that gives his all on the field, that can show the young guys how to play.
