game against geelong, cracking goals against sydney and kangas under pressure etc there is quality in danny meyer just hope he gets an oppurtunity

coburg is going to suck this year so i hope guys like danny dont get overloooked because he isnt getting enough touches

i agree, he is the kind of player who will spend long periods of the game without doing much, but then in the space of 10-15 mins will turn a game on its ear. hard to do that if you are on and of the bench all day.

Be nice to see him get a kick wherever he plays.

He was only in his 2nd year last season.

Don't expect him to be a world better just yet.

Play him in a back pocket this season and he'll get 20 touches a game at least.

i'm still confident this guy will produce, but agree he is taking his sweet f'ing time. he doesn't come across as a very hard player, so those type players do usually take longer to show worth, mainly because they are not comfortable out on the field, with all those mature bodied players running at them at full spees.

i liken him to a caracella alot. can nail the goals, classy when someone gives it to him, but don't expect him to be doing the tough things.

i think we should play him at HFF, if you play him too deep (i.e the pocket ) he will find it hard to get space, and he needs space to develop some comfort out on the field (and some muscles too)

I still liken him a lot (physically) to Farren Ray, who was pick 4 and only last season (his 3rd) finally made any sort of impact. Whilst his attitude perhaps leaves a bit to be desired, I still don't think he would have been able to contribute much anyway, still only listed at 70kg on the club site.

Play the lad in the backline.

He'll see alot of the ball. Allow him to use his skills and pace.

How did you assess last Friday’s performance?

It was pleasing . . . it doesn’t matter whether you’re having a game of table tennis, you still like to win. We haven’t been results-driven in terms of our pre-season preparation, but it’s still nice to get a win. I thought the major positive to come out of the game was a few of our young players really stepping up to the levels that you expect and having an impact. Five of the six players who we picked up in the 2004 National Draft, when we had five picks in the top 20, all played well. That was a particularly pleasing aspect . . . Brett Deledio had 30 possessions, Richard Tambling played in the middle and had a really solid game, Adam Pattison produced his best performance since arriving at the Club . . . really strong work playing as a ruckman, Luke McGuane was excellent down back, and Dean Polo did a pretty good tagging role after quarter-time on Ben Johnson, who had started the game really well. And then, we had Danny Meyer, our other selection in that 2004 Draft, who was the best player for Coburg in its practice match last weekend. He was a bit unlucky not to be selected for the Mildura match because he played quite well at senior level against Melbourne the week before, coming off the interchange bench and having a real impact. However, he did his senior chances no harm at all with his display for Coburg last weekend.
i agree play him of hbf. we have casserly deledio edwards meyer jon polo white all quick nearly all skinny and nearly all good kicks. the place for these blokes to learn the game when they get into the team is hbf. this is pretty hard to do atm with both bowdens waxing down back at the moment. they are both mature enough and big enough to play in positions where its harder to get a kick.
on meyer only criticisms i had of him as a youngster was his frame very skinny had concerns if he could bulk up and he was never a big ball winner.

He has not yet started his 3rd season.

Stick to Carlton knackers.
