Delisted Darragh Joyce

Darragh played really well in a good team performance. Worked well in defence with Howard and now looks comfortable playing at this level . He has come a long way since he first started that’s for sure . He isn’t afraid to lower his eyes when running out of defence and look for loose players rather than just bombing it long to no one so he fits in with the rest of the backline .

After being dropped due to the return of Frawley, Darragh
went well, he played on an opponent for most of the game.

“At the start, he probably gave a bit too much attention to his opponent, and strayed away from his game, but he worked his way into it.

“He was good for us and managed to grab 19 touches as well.”

He is getting better and better the more he plays .

Against Swans Darragh switch hitted in the Ruck and did not look too bad. 6 ft 4 in the old scale so provides a chop out when we only have Ryder or Marshall playing and can then move down back.

Better option than Hunter sadly but good for Darragh. Gets another year I reckon.

Maybe we should look at him rather then getting a Frawley or McKernan type end of career type player and use the list spot to develop a 19 year old.

You know it makes sense.

He's still only 24, and probably still has improvement in him. We know McKernan doesn't .
This is probably the fifth year since he touched an AFL football. He is better than most Australians who started at age 5.
Daniel McKenzie had been with the club a year when Joyce first trained with the Saints, i'm not sure why some people didn't want to cut Joyce any slack at all.

Darragh has a magnificent physique for AFL. He has clearly worked hard in preparation for playing here.

This season has turned out to be his most prolific with 5 appearances in the Saints colours so far and am expecting a sixth next week in our final appearance in 2021. He is a solid defender. Reliable and definitely on the improve.

The fact that he has been able to pinch hit in the ruck is a plus for him, but that side of his game is only ordinary

The way the VFL commentators were talking about him, he'd be exactly the kind of player teams would be looking at for emergency depth.
