David Haynes trade?

Is that a troll?

We already have enough of Haynes type at Geelong (Finnin, Gardiner, Kingsle etc) non KPP tall fowards.

Haynes is not a absolute requirement for Geelong. I would rather keep our no 7.

No I am genuinly interested?

Reasons for this are that there is a lot of speculation about Geelong trading their pick 2o(something for Haynes).

By trading you #1 pick for our number #1 pick (#11) and Haynes means that you still have relatively hig #1 pick and you gain Haynes (and retain your second round pick) and it allows us to draft in front of Freo fo rthe best West Australian talent.

I genuinly do not think this is a bad trade deal but I also want to understand your opinion on the subject.

We do not need him that badly.

A third round draft pick for him is adequate.

We have other guys. namely S.Johnson and Gardiner, who we have developed, are younger, and just as promising.

Most definitley not worth dropping back in the first round of the draft for.

Exactly. If pick 35 is not enough for WCE then we will go after him in the pre-season draft.

My sentiments exactly.

Let's hope the club share our view.

What player would you be willing to offer?
Mooney?
Kent Kinglsey

No players, definitely not Corey.

Actually, how does Foster/Grigic for Haynes sound?

See, you are happy to trade pick 35 after all!!

Mate there is no negotiation. It's a low 3rd round pick or nothing. I wont even respond to the Joel Corey suggestion. Damn I just did

Please don't make fools of us GFC.

I am starting to feel sick. It is looking for likely by the second.

Why undo all the good work with the Street deal for a player we can pick up in the PS draft. Note we no longer have a chance of getting that 3rd round pick, Scotland went for it. Looks like it's Clarke for Loats in effect.

I wouldn't be too disappointed if we gave up the draft pick we got for Street in a deal to get Haynes to Geelong. However, the best option would be to pick him up in the Pre-Season draft, the next would be to trade what we can get for Mooney, the last would be to give up one of our 2nd round picks. As long as we keep our first round pick, and one of the second round picks for Nathan Ablett, I will be fairly happy. We're in front at the minute!

West Coast has traded versatile forward David Haynes and pick 42 at the National AFL Draft to Geelong in exchange for the Cats’ pick 20.

The 22 year-old held down the key forward post for West Coast for much of 2003. He played 21 games this season to bring his career tally to 46.

Geelong had acquired the 20th pick from the Western Bulldogs for ruckman Peter Street.

Originally from North Warnambool, Haynes was drafted by West Coast from the Geelong Falcons in the TAC Cup.

so ur telling me we swapped Peter Street for a former first round selection in Haynes and pick 42?

stephen wells i could kiss you!!

We could have asked him to nominate for the PS draft and keep pick 20 because he was out of contract and apparently wanted to come home. Im sure he would of lasted to pick 5 because he isn't that big a name. Then we would have had 3 picks plus Blake in the top 22.

Oh well hopefully we can grab Morrison now. Although Richmond have the pick above us courtesy of our last round slip up and they are very keen on him

Same here. Let's hope they both get screwed over.
It will add extra feeling to our games against them next year, I sure hope we can come away with 3 out of 3 wins. :)

You guys are going to be grinning like Cheshire Cats when David settles down. He is a potential champion and on field leader. I will miss him.

Frodo is in a small minority of WCE fans on this one.

I wish David all the best though (except against us).
