Can anyone share a bit about how he plays, and his prospects for AFL footy?

Melbourne desperately need mids and the state leagues aren't a bad place to look for our later picks in the draft. I've been interested in Marc Lock, but after going over the Box Hill match reports, Mirra seems to be in the bests every week, in a good VFL side.

Is he worth a shot? Inside/outside type? Is he lacking the speed for AFL?

David Mirra is not a mid he is a defender. A solid defender at that has been in great form for box hill the last 3 years. If he was 3 cms taller he would be on an afl list.

You can have Kyle Cheney back I'd be checking out the SANFL leagues, they produce tough nuggets (eg: Puopolo!)

Bump. I've liked the cut of this guy's jib over the last few years. Playing well again today. If he holds this form I reckon he's assured of a rookie list spot with someone at AFL level next year.

Yeah true and well deserved it would be to,has been a very reliable player for a long time.

Think his time has passed, but who knows. I think he'd be good depth on an AFL list but to be fair, knocks are: his height and disposal can be unreliable.

As others have said, he's a defender not a mid-fielder. Here is some info back in 2013 when he was going to be picked up if ever:
