David Robbins, the 2003 JJ Liston Trophy and Sandringham fairest & best winner, will make his long awaited WAFL league debut for Subiaco against South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Monday.

Robbins broke a finger in the pre-season and has been restricted to three reserves games for the Lions in 2004.

The former Zebra has a lot to live up to having won two JJ Liston Trophies in three seasons.

Robbins immediately captured headlines upon his arrival in West Australia when he decided to sign with Subiaco after previously agreeing to line-up with Perth in 2004.

His injury has to an extent taken some of the attention away from him but as he will soon learn Perth supporters have long memories and away teams often find that the reception at EFtel Lathlain Park is hostile and unforgiving, particularly in the members and pig pen areas.

Two other former Sandringham players have already made their debuts for Subiaco in 2004.

Mark Haynes has been quietly efficient in his three league games playing mainly on ball while Lachlin Oakley has struggled at centre half foward possibly because of the bigger grounds.

Meanwhile at East Perth, four other Sandringham recruits have begun the season with mixed success.

Mark Ainley has yet to play due to injury. Michael Clark has not had a real impact yet and will probably play reserves against East Fremantle. Damian Lynch has been playing at Centre half Back and on a flank and has been very good. Jon Perrett has been the best of the lot so far and received best on ground votes from some media scribes for his performance against Perth at EFtel Lathlain Park last week.
