According to the Herald Sun MIDSEASON REPORT, and basically in my own opinion considering I have seen every game from siren to siren I would have to agree,

That David Wirrpunda needs to lift or will be up for Trade in October.

His form has dropped from the best 'Rebounding' defender in the league to the most dropped off senior player along with the likes of Lance Whitnall (has had an astounding last month though) or a Nick Holland.

Collingwood's list is not a Premiership side. It was the question asked that if Collingwood could do it with a current list. October will be a big month for Collingwood with Delistings being the main question with some senior players heading that way.

David Wirrpunda is a Victorian, comes from Healsville of the top of my head, and said in a MMM interview last year when asked the question if he would think to come back to Victoria, he said that he loves playing for West Coast, but it wasn't the last thing on his mind. I think his contract is at it's end at the end of the year.

The question is, If so...

Should Collingwood look for David Wirrpunda?

Pros:
Leon Davis is looking shabby at the moment and comes from WA
Adds depth to our list

Cons:
Our defence is quite good, how will we fit him in?

HERE IS COLLINGWOOD'S IDEAL DEFENCE

B: Wakelin ~ Prestigiacomo ~ Clement
HB: Cole ~ J.Cloke ~ Johnson

Could we spare Wirra in that Defence, or could we even develop one of those player as a forward, or... Wirrpunda has been played as a forward during his career and could take over Leon Davis.

Cole and Johnson have placed themselves inside that defence and won't be coming out.

Should we look for Wirra if he is a chance to leave at the end of the season?

We all keep saying we lack speed in the midfield department . I could easily see Wirra playing on the wing . Also the thing with Wirra is that he can pretty much play anywhere and have an impact on the game - ie/ back , midfield and forward . If he is up for trade we should target him , no idea what we could offer , maybe a package of L.Davis , T.Walker and a 3rd round draft choice .

No.

I have heard from numerous places that he is basically a 24 year old trapped in a 30 year old footballers body due to the 7 years of traveling he has spent in the AFL system.

I must say that he does have the attributes that would help in our speed and disposal deficiencies but it is too greater risk.

If we want to get duped "Justin Blumfield" style. Go for it.

BTW: Check here

Interesting comments re his body. MM would be a fair judge of that though. I'd love to get him and giove him a fresh start if we could do a deal. We badly lack flexibility, speed and disposal skills. He has all that. Ssubject to his body being ok I'd jump at a trade. The problem is who do we trade they the Eagles would be interested in?

The eagles board came out saying he might be going to the Pies.

If the Eagles don't want him then certainly the trade that 'McGough27' suggested is the way to go.

L.Davis (WA)
T.Walker (WA)
3rd - 4th Round Draft pick.

This time we would get something in return.

i think he is worth a crack, giving the eagles davis walker AND a draft pick is a bit rich in my opinion but may be the way it is going to be as i cant see the eagles getting too excited with leon considering they have sampi and phil
walker on the other hand would be handy for the make-up, considering jackovich has gone and travis gaspar is struggling to get on the field

No interest in a player who is always injured. Wirrpunda's best days are behind him despite being reasonably young.

Straight swap for O'Bree maybe but the Eagles wouldn't agree to that.

I understand what you are saying but remember Scott Burns was in the same catagory a few years back. I'd punt on him simply because he ahs the two things we badly lack - speed and footskills. First round picka nd whatever we could get for Kinnear, McKee, Williams, O'Bree and Nixon, if anything.
