i think he will play centre half back for williamstown next year, and who knows, maybe he'll play a few senior games for collingwood as he gets better.

then 2005 he should be a regular senior player in the backline for us.

Besides seeying his name in the paper as the best or seeying him in one or two curtain raisers have you actually seen him play how van you pass judge ment on pure talk from the club or the media.

I would like Lokan not to be in the starting, Ben Kinnear and Lokan have got a spot to fight for, and i am not being biased.

Heres my experement write up.

AIM:
To see who adds more value to the Collingwood Football Clubs starting 22 of 2004.

MATERIALS:
The AFL filled brain of teenager "Lonie_From_50".

RESULTS:
Matthew LOKAN
Lack of disposal, uneven run through centre and handball to NO advantage, play 75% of match on ground and only afford 6 touches and have maybe 1 sheapard, put on a FEW gang tackle on the half-back flank. He can play up forward for a game or two, leads well inside 50.

Ben KINNEAR
Strength and Height, Goalkicking ability, BEST reflexes in the AFL, powerful mark, value at stoppages, effective ruckwork, Capable of playing like a Rocca, can play at both ends of the ground in key positions like Centre Half Back and Centre Half Forward / Full Forward.

CONCLUSION:
Ben KINNEAR, (unbiased) has proven more in using his gametime effectively and adds much more power to the side with his key position football. Lokan has had one good game this year out of 25, which was against St Kilda in round 9. Kinnear, unfortunately did not play a big part in the Grand Final but it shows the potential he has. He played a really good game against the Power in the Preliminary Final which earned him his GF spot. Lokan may have to find himself out of defence because he and Lonie play the sam sort of defensive footy but Lonie runs up to kick goals where Lokan doesn't. He would be much more suited in a Forward Pocket because that is where I can see him come into play. I have to say that he has a great lead but is playing defence.
Ben Should start next year because of the friendship around the club and gets along with blokes. He has VERY HIGH expectations given from Eddie McGuire and Mick Malthouse and has signed a new contract which will see him to the end of 2005. More proof of his high expectations. I certainly wouldn't mind if they both are in the starting 22 though.

Um no Clokes anywhere near the forward line please.

certainly, our defence has been shocking when Clokey has played in the Forward Line.

GAME 1 - v Geelong R15 2002 - Lost by 5 goals.
GAME 2 - v Essendon R5 2003 - Lost by 11 goals
GAME 3 - v Brisbane Lions 2003 - Lost by 50 points.

Davidson is up and ready for the new season.

He could have played a few Williamstown games at the end of the year but the club took the conservative aproach which is more then fair enough.

Malthouse said on the "Ask the Coaches" section on the CFC website that Davidson was groomed for the Nick Davis role of a roaming forward who can kick goals from anywhere within 60 meters.

Who knows what posistion he will play after his knee-reconstruction but if it was my choice I would turn him into an 'Andrew Embley' type player who can pinch hit on either ends due to his excellent versitility.

Don't expect too much from him however.

Can't believe no-one will improve enough to replace Lokan or Davis

While I found that highly amusing , Kinnear has proven he is not up to AFL standard and goes missing when it counts.
At best he is a handy forward pocket player, despite being 6 foot 3 he doesn't take any contested marks.
I'd be happy to never see him or Andrew Williams play (for the pies)ever again.

Can we move on from Kinnear debates FFS. The guy is hopeless, proven it many times, hes lucky to get another contract.

Tommy will be coming off a knee reco so we shouldnt put too much pressure on him, but in 05 im hoping he can cement a place.

As for not seeing much of him, some of us do actually watch the Willi ghames, and saw him in 02 play some blinders.

Like P4 I have seen him play.
I was expecting him to be playing 1's this year, his knee put an end to that.

I think he will play 1's on 04 and be eased into the team starting at CHB before going forward to be the third tall.

This kid can really play.
Agree with P4 he played some ripping games for willi in 02.
He is a great mark and a thumping kick.
What ever he does in 04 he will be much better in 05. It may take him next year to get fully over his knee as it does with some big guys.
