Dawes 2nd Half

Was very impressive.A lot of his leads in the first half were ignored so i was thinking it was going to be another quiet game by Chris. However to his credit he kept on presenting and providing a lead and ended up being a important factor in our win

Hopefully he doesnt get dropped when Fraser comes back in because the kid needs confidence to thrive at this level. The team should make a concentrated effort to get him involved as early as possible as he adds another weapon to our forward line when presenting like he did.

I agree 100%.
He looked like a man out there as well. not a young man.
Maybe the beard.
The mark he took where he simply threw his opponent aside was very impressive.

A glimpse of the "monster" he will become.:thumbsu:

Can we have Fraser Wood Cloke Anthony Dawes one of the Browns(i dont think they will play together again this year) Presti in the one side? Wood have been good since Fraser has been out and has to stay in the side. So it comes down to Dawes. In the end do we rotate the ruckman off the bench and leave the 3 talls in the forward line or does fraser play the third tall forward role? I liked the 3 talls last night it let all of them have a run up the ground and get a bit of the ball other then deep in the forward line.

Played good.. but next year will be his year..
Won't hold his spot.. Rusling Rocca N.Brown and Fraser will all get games before him..

Hopefully one of the above can get back against richmond.. the other three seem likely for the few weeks after..

Don't forget J-Mac and Marty Clarke either..

Not sure who is going to take their place.
Contenders could be ben johnson, dick, goldsack, toovey, beams might get rested.. who knows ?

The above 6 im sure will play if healthy come finals..
Good position to be in..

Loved his gamre also. Showing great signs. Loved his work pinch hitting in the ruck. Will be a starting player in 2010 for mine.

I have been a big fan (but trying to keep a lid on it) since his goals against Box Hill & Geelong in the reserves last year.

I like that he is now taking a bit of the ruck like Rocca used to be able to do. When he goes forward he is currently the last option to kick to. But by being the 3rd tall he should the zone off defender so he should make the opposition pay.
The three smalls are also options before him but still nice to have 6 guys who are strong over head
He is not a wonderful kick but he kicks well under pressure. I like that he wants to use his body. I think the beard gets rid of the Brighton Grammar look.

I do think that Josh will take his spot as Ruck / Forward in a couple of weeks.

But lets just keep a lid on it remember we havent beaten anyone we never travel the and I nearly kicked the television in when that idiot Quartermaine said "Oh the ball fell into his arms" in the third quarter then Quattermaine actually said after the second goal he has become a bit involved.

The man crush stuff started when he took that clunker overhead on the half forward line in last quarter.

But lets keep a lid on it

There's a lot to like about Chris IMO.

Not the least of which is his ability to take a contested mark - ultimately this means he will takeover that Anthony Rocca type gorilla role, only with his endurance he has more strings to his bow than Pebbles.

The forward line actually looks more potent with him as he, Jack & Travis are all very good contested marks, which always give us the 'hail mary' option if all else fails.

For a kid who has played about 10 games he has done all you can ask to this point.

Look out for him in 2010.

Can almost guarantee that Rocca won't be on the list next year, and there would have to be a big doubt about Rus. N Brown won't be competing for a forward line role with Dawes.

Fraser will definitely be back. I think L Brown out with Fraser and Wood playing Brown's role.

I'm waiting for Russler to come back in, possibly against Sydney, but if he wont make it, I'd have Dawes 1st drop and then Rocca last for tall options. Medders could do with a 'rest' during next two games and let La Caf have a go.

The great thing about our team is the flexibility - so many swing men and adaptable players.

I never left ;P

The only players I think should come back in are Fraser and maybe Wellers (for a tall if we are one two many. Maybe for Dick) or Nathan Brown (possibly for L Brown). The list is looking pretty settled atm. Rocca should only come in if he dominates at VFL level not simply if he "strings a couple of games together". He needs to prove he can still play at all let alone a full match.

In all seriousness tho - next year for the Rus and for JMack. With Dawes coming on, Sidey having another year's development, further improvement from Woody and Beams, etc - our list could look SCARY next season. Go pies.
