The definition of a team player. Takes a pay hit, drops himself out of contention for a GF spot and he looks like he's enjoying his time in the black and white. Let's not make this thread about Cloke, but he could learn a thing or two from him. Collingwood looked terrible today, but let's take a positive that we'll have him for at least another three years.

He was absolutely fantastic today. Almost every disposal was a good one. Not taking a shot at Swanny but I'd rather get 32 good disposals and 4 goals than 49 disposals that half were cheap handballs and turnovers. Beams was almost faultless today. P.S. Swanny was great also, just making that clear

He was a worry for a while with how he was performing off the field, but that looks to have turned around.

Excellent season, damaging inside and out.

Yeah has been a bit of a Dill of the Field but hoepfully learnt from that.

Today did not have as many Clearances but was Easily Our Best

Absolute star he is. What a quality player he has turned out to be!

Did he play in last year's grand final?? I think I recall him not being quite ready to come back into the side because of an injury?

In the space of a year he has turned from a solid young player to a likely AA and star of the comp

Such a team player and to think he will be earning a lot less than Cloke if he signs makes me sick. Beams deserves the contract that Cloke is asking for however he is a great team man and is happy to take a lesser contract.

Beams :thumbsu:

Cloke

Anyway, I wouldn't be too worried about today, you will be thereabouts come the end of the year and it's anyones for the taking!

Agreed. I saw a handball and a pass today that went straight to a Hawthorn player, both resulted in a goal.

From an opposition point of view, this guy was absolute class today and the one true winner you had on the day. Plays a complete game, works hard, and does the team things. Looks a gun in the making. Great to hear you signed him again. Club had looked after him, and he is repaying it in spades

Was classy inside and outside today. Did the team stuff and was rewarded by kicking 4 goals. From an outside perspective I'd think he would be leading your Best and Fairest or at the very least top 3. Career best form and will improve.

Sidebottom (who wasn't as prominent but has also been great this year) and Beams in the one draft was a masterstroke by Collingwood. Wouldn't mind either of the two in Brown and Gold.

I love Beamsy. I really wish other players would follow his lead. He is worth a lot more than what he has reportedly signed for.

He was very, very good yesterday. But when the game was there to be won, he was unsighted around the stoppages. Swanny was a lone hand for us at the clearances, and while he did butcher the ball a little, without Swan, we would have lost by 100 points. Beams was excellent on the outside, but didn't seem to win the ball at the stoppages like he has been in recent months.

Nevertheless, he would still be in contention for a brownlow vote.

I get excited in the pants when I see this guy kick a goal. So calm, cool and collected! Doesn't even crack a smile. Absolute machine! :thumbsu:

Had a shocking game in the centre square, couldn't get his hand on it at the clearances, but very good game around the ground.
His stats exaggerated his performance on the weekend. Sorry, can't let the midfield off the chain for what happened on the weekend, they were collectively very poor where it mattered - clearances and forward line delivery.

Only seen a few games with him playing but have to agree, a star with tonnes of class. I thought easily your best on the weekend and I hope we tag him if we meet in Sept.

Pardon my ignorance but I was away while the beams signing was supposedly done and being my favourite player I must ask is his signing actually official?
Yes, confirmed by both him and his manager.

Top 3 Copeland. Tied for lead in one media award. Top 4 AFLCA votes. Should be top 10 Brownlow. Pre-season my mate in QLD who saw him play as a junior told me he thought MM played Beams out of position. Told me he had a big engine and was a midfielder, not a HFF. Malthouse played him in the midfield but not full time. Bucks seems to play him in the guts almost solely and didn't he shine during the Swan/Pendles injury period. Good on him if he has signed for the reported money.
