hi guys

just interested on how this kid is going? will we see him at all in the seniors this year or is it more a development year in the VFL?

Looked dreadful in the intra-practice match. Tambling towelled him up.

Polo was starting 2 metres behind Tambling whilst matched on him in the back pocket. I couldn't understand why he would make it so easy for Tambling to lead and mark, common sense would have suggested you start 2 metres in front of Tambling deny him the mark on the lead and if he is good enough to mark over the top of you so be it. You would think a player as short as Tambling is not going to take too many marks from behind.

To put it succinctly, I was unimpressed by Polo.

You are in denial.

What you are really trying to say is that matched up on Tambling, Polo did as well as any could be expected to do but Tambling was a far suprerior player who will be better than most in the competition...

... and that you're ********ed that you didn't pick him up!
 
I like him. Happy to have him at the club.

Lacks balance and and doesnt have the best footy brain. Although he is skinny at the present he is a good size for a midfeilder at 188cms.

By all accounts he is very effective and has a knack of finding the ball. Runs hard, has good stamina and what I like most is competitive and goes in hard.

Looks to have abit of ticker about him.
 
dean polo is an absolute star as i have seen him play many times and has a ton of heart. I was surprised he wasnt picked higher, because he is an excellent midfielder who can play football and gives a lot. to win a gippsland power best and fairest in a good year with VIC COUNTRY CAPTAIN Andrew Mcqualter, Jarryd Roughead and Taylor Collins (werribee gun) in the side is no mean feat and i would definately take him at carlton. pretty poor to rate him on a match playing outta position on a more accomplished richie tambling in a favoured position(or 2nd favourite)

I hope he comes through, but it's early days yet. From what I've heard about his style of play, he could be a useful tagger and ball winner, and we need all the help for Cogs that we can get.

Be interesting to see how Dean compares to Alex Gilmour, Polo was taken at 20 in the 2004 draft, Gilmour at 21 in the 2003 draft. They are 5 weeks apart in age, but Gilmour has the advantage of an additional AFL preseason under his belt.
