Dean Solomon is out of contract and IMO is a must get for west coast. How good would he be under Worsfold ?? What are your thoughts ??

Good player - wouldn't want to pay too much for him. I remember how the Eagles would trade players they didn't really rely on too much in our power days of the early nineties. They never seemed to be quite as good elsewhere! The Essendon system is admirable - and I don't know how good Solomon would be in a different system.

If we can pick him up relatively cheap, then why not? But as I have stated before, do we really want to stock up on discards from other clubs?

I would prefer to trade for another top 10 draft pick instead. I wonder if the saints would be interested in Braun + #22 pick for their pick #5?

I somehow don't think so. If we gave them Banfield and say an early second round pick (#13 or so) that we got from another deal we may just get a deal but having a third first round draft pick sure would be nice!!

I'm not sure about going for 17 year olds. Sure it's an investment and Kerr was a great second round pick but how many will make it and in what time frame? If we are looking to be a top 6 side in 2003 we need to be building the 19-24 y.o. group.
I wouldn't go for Sampi or Polak. I beleve that Buszan and Fido are our future in those positions and either BB or Scotty are interim. We need a Chick type and a Gaspar type to compliment our up and coming players. I would trade pick 6 and 22 for either.

I would like to see some more wins at Subi next year and unless we have an answer to oppositions just bombing the ball into our 50 with a good chance of a mark and a midfield capable of delivering quality ball to the forwards then we will struggle again.

Solomon is just one of many players at Essendon that are made to look better than they really are because they play for such a good side. Jacobs, Henneman, Rioli, Ramanaukas... these players would be nothing more than role players at other clubs.

Soloman isnt worth the risk but if he doesnt want a heap of money i would give him a go.
