Debut Players

Just thinking about this the other day, Geelong always seems to have players who come out and have awesome debuts and then just fall away in the rest of the career. Examples off top of head include Shannon Byrnes, Monster Mensch and Aaron Lord. Is there a debut curse?

Byrnes is the exception but he is still a premiership player....Nathan Buckley and Tony Lockett can't say that.

Mensch and lord hardly careers which fell away, falling away would be to show great potential and never play over 3 seasons, those guys played for over a decade and were good providers to the cats and hawks.

Most of the players who've debuted in the last 4 or 5 years seem to have kicked on pretty well, although obviously not all have started with blinders.

We tend to draft really well now - the number of players that don't make it seems to be pretty damn small.
