I noticed we are now sitting 4th on the ladder for points against. Normally we would be top or second, we have tweaked our game style by giving up a little more in defence and becoming more attacking. I know everyone has noticed this already but in the time RTB has been with us ,2015 appears a definite change in our game plan. Ross has finally woken up and realised to gain these 2 or 3 extra goals a game and match it with the likes of Hawthorn , we could not continue on our previous path of our defensive style. It was has become apparent that although we would be very competitive, and play off in the finals , it was never going to get us that silverware unless something changed. i.e. trying to get free agency players wasn't working, lets tweak our game plan. Ross is obviously not adverse to change and I am loving our current style. We cannot be labelled as a boring defensive club anymore. From where I sit we are now one of the more entertaining clubs to watch.

Might have something to do with us missing out #2 and #3 ranked lockdown defenders...
We also haven't had the privilege of playing cellar-dwellers like Melbourne, Carlton, St Kilda and GWS. It is too early in the season to make comparisons about points scored for & against.

We have played Port Adelaide, Geelong and WCE. Three historically high scoring sides. WCE may be average at the moment, but none can doubt their scoring potential.

The teams who have conceded less points than us are:
Adelaide - North Melbourne, Collingwood & Melbourne (only one of these will make the top 8 this season)
Sydney - Essendon, Port Adelaide & GWS (played Essendon when they were fatigued, and GWS are still learning)
Hawthorn - Geelong, Essendon & Western Bulldogs Bulldogs (probably the most similar to our opponents, but Hawthorn are a bloody good side)

We'd be 2nd for defence had we not gone to sleep in the last - take away half (3) of their last quarter junktime goals and we would be outright 2nd on 191 pts conceded (Adelaide are on 181)

Also our % would then be 150-something, putting us 2nd overall

Bottom line: our defense is fine, we just slacked off for the derby in the 2nd half. Sydney will be a massive test this weekend

We are backing our defenders one on one against the opposition more rather than having a spare in defence. If the opposition has a spare then our spare is at the contest. Means we are much more attacking but also relies on our defenders all veing versatile and able to rebound with whoever is spare in the midfield at the time.
