A few dropped catches & one of the fast bowlers gets injured sound familiar?
We still have a LOT to do to save this Test but we're showing some fight & for me the two big points now are firstly that if Dizzy can't bowl any more in the game then Australia are hard pressed down to a 3 man attack.Mcgrath & Bichel will have to do the hard yards (to quote the vernacular), I always think it's a bit of a risk the way Asutralia always play a 4 man attack but when 2 of them are Warne & McGrath then you understand why.If we can bat on tommorow morning without losing wickets then we can make it hard for you, even Warnie will struggle if he has to bowl too many overs.
The second key is for the two left handers to stay in, they rode their luck against Warne today at times but it's clear that they have a much better chance against him than the right handers (that's why Thorpe missing at 5 is such a big blow) so if they can see out the new ball even if they score relatively slowly then Warne will come in & they can survive against him (which I'm not sure the rest of them can).
I'm pleased that they've shown some fight, it's still an uphill battle even if we we're to make 500 in the first dig we could still come a cropper batting last against Warne, how much does the Gabba track usually disintegrate on day's 4 & 5?
A final well done to Vaughn for the way he batted , he didn't make many but I loved his pull through midwicket off McGrath off one that wasn't that short that's the way to go.
