Bumped Deledio The forward

I thought this was an embarrassing bump for me but pretty happy with what I said. He should have been a dual AA off the HBF.

Left out of both 2010 and 2011 AA teams because we were shit :(

On the other hand AA is usually controversial and the selectors aren't exactly the most respected personnel, so I doubt anybody loses any sleep if they aren't selected.

**** that i'm still ropable about out. He averaged 10 disposal more a game then Harry O in 2010 thats a huge difference. And he spend less time on the ground and used it 80% compared to 78%. Its not even close to debatable he should have been in that team.

In 2011 it was a little bit closer. Only 5 possessions more a game then Murphy, used it slightly worse but still beat him in every other vital statistic.

He'll get snubbed again this year despite being the no.1 score involvement player in the comp. He deserves it ahead of Dusty IMO. Should have been a minimum 4 time AA player at the end of his career.

Is that statistic correct? I know on average per game he's Richmond's best score involvement player, but didn't know it was in the comp.

If we'd won a few finals and a GF during his playing period, they'd be shouting his praises at the top of their lungs. Still could happen ;)

I still maintain that he's almost without peer at the moment,
Can't think of a single player from another team in the finals that i would swap him for.
Same with Rance.
That has to be a big plus for us.

had a stand up argument with my brother over a few of Dads home brews yesterday.
I said Deledio is the player that Goddard was when he played that finals series for the Saints. He was peerless back then (almost a shame whats happened to him since, the big sook).
Anyway, my brother looked at me like I had two heads.
But that's the sort of impact Deledio will have that will win over the vast majority that see him only once or twice per year.
And another thing, while I've got the floor, anyone notice him paying out on Chaplin for that high contact and 50m on Friday night? Was very aggressive in his attack on Chaplin.
Goes to state of mind, your honour, Deledio is in the zone.

I was a massive Goddard fan then.
I reckon Lids is more dangerous though.
Good call.

Maybe we should merge this thread with the Brett Deledio tribute thread/obscenely good thread? I was going to bump it but would be weird if this one was going at the same time.

Right now according to AFL Player Ratings (Not AFL fantasy or supercoach) Deledio is our best player statistically. He's ranked #21 in the league and is a lock for the team of the year.

Edit: For those curious, Rance is ranked as the best key defender and is also a lock for team of the year. Riewoldt rated as the 4th best key forward, nice to see him get some statistical recognition for his enormous contributions. Not sure if Jack is in the side of not though.

I remember Richo having a bit of a gloat about the time Deledio played on Goddard, I think it was 2011? Can't remember, but Lids definitely got the better of him, think we lost the game but.

Didn't notice him paying out on Chappy, any idea when abouts in the game it was?

He tends to get a bit lippy with opposition players and on the odd occasion the umpires, not too often he lashes out at team mates though. Two exceptions that come to mind are GC 2012 where he gave everyone a spray before he left the ground and last year when he chucked his mouth guard out and had some stern looking talks with a few of the boys before they all went off.

Lids must have big mitts he's such a one grab mark overhead.
As a forward I'm hoping he plays for another 6 or 7 years and averages 40 goals a season.
The Jack and Lids show will be worth watching in that time.

I'm not 100% now as maybe i'm mixing up Richmond and the AFL but i'm sure i heard the comp.

I would never trade lids but Chad Wingard would be right up there with him, kid is freak and has kicked something like 10 more goals then anyone else since round 11.

First goal when Chappy clipped the kid in the head after he'd marked. 50m, goal.

Ah gotcha. Chappy badly chipped it out of the 50 to Brando who had Majak in fron of him and McDonald crumbing.

Slapping the bloke's head after he marked it was the cherry on that very ugly cake

The drawn game a few years ago, took Goddard to the cleaners.

Reminds me of Burgoyne at his best. Both of them deadly silk.
Burgoyne has dropped off though and I'm surprised he made the AA 40.
