I mean, and its a credit to him, he was already being tagged in 2006.
Will he be a permanent fixture in the midfield next year?
Tigers are putting together a nice bunch of mids but am most interested in how you see Deledio fitting in?

This year he didnt cope with the tags he had, but when moved back in defence, he averaged over 20 possies a game for the last 6 weeks.

Just needs more time to get some K's under his belt and step in the midfield permenantly in 2 years time.

Massive upper body for a guy his age and size. I know he surprised the staff at Richmond last year with his development in the upper body. It normally takes three pre-seasons for kids bodies to mature so I can only guess what size he will be next season. I think he'll end up a big bodied midfielder- maybe in the mould of Voss, Cousins, Black. Not comparing the kid to those guys of course- just that's the type of style I think he'll be when he matures. Don't expect much next year- a run in the middle, on the wing, half forward, half back. Just continue to develop for a permanent run in the middle the year after.

So 55-60m Torps are not kicking a footy, 45-50 Drop Punts are not kicking a footy, try watching the first Carlton v Richmond game this year and watch Murphy and his 40-45 m floaters, then tell me who can't kick a footy. All players struggle at times with their disposal by foot, even a great like Buckley shanks them, the real difference is the distance covered and whether it goes to advantage of your side or to a contest.

idiot, Deledio is only a few months older then Murphy, is faster, stronger, more skilled, better hands, and was taken at number 1 when he was a lot younger then murphy was in what was also a much stronger draft. And the fact that murphy is to be developed at carlton is a weakness to murphy in his future

i know this is going to sound biased, but i would honestly prefer murphy over deledio. sure deledio is a longer kick, has a much beter size about him and is heaps faster but murphy's brain just makes up for it all. his kicks which look like floaters arent floaters at all they are just perfect kicks to space. he played only 12 games for the year and lead carlton in score assists so obviosly he knows how to pass a ball and set up a goal (not to mention he has a really good goal sense himself). murphy can shake off tags much better than deledio and is also a much better natural leader than deledio imo. im not dissing deledio as he is one of my favourite players and someone i model my self upon but i would prefer murphy in my team. i guess only time will tell who is the player.

Deledio is much better, less injury prone and the better athletic in every repsect.

I think you will find that Murphy will be a better player than Deledio, Im not saying he is a bad player but like Murph3 says, Murphy reads the play better, is fitter, has a better football brain and has the ability to bring his teammates into the game.

I also think you will find in the corresponding game against West Coast at Subi. Deledio was tagged by Adam Selwood, who ended up with more possies, whilst Murphy was given West Coast's best Tagger Tyson Stenglien, who could not stop Murphy's impact.

I dont think a comparison can be made between the two, Murphy, quite simply is on another planet.

no it wouldnt but captaining a junior side to 4 premierships would unlike the team deledio played in and im not sure whether he captained it or not but they got thrashed every week. also, i think he captained oakleigh in the u/18 comp as well, you know just as well as i do that murphy is a fantastic leader and im not saying deledio isnt but i think murphy is better.

that doesnt mean anything the injury might just have been better than first thought, murphy when he injured his shoulder knew he'd be out for the rest of the game so he thought he'd take someone with him and so he tried to tackle a lions player really hard and in the process damaged his shoulder even more doing a team thing.
