Will hopefully get to see the hawthorn game tonight how did he go i no he had 30 possises but where they effective and did he nearlt turn the match

I'm yet to see footage of the game but as far as I can see, this is the first 30 + disposal game for Lids.
Perhaps not all of them were effective but I for one am more than happy that he is getting more of the ball.
The more of the footy Lids gets... the more our other players get hit on the chest.

He played very well.
The kid uses his braine, which is one thing the rest of the players need to do.
Decision making is where we break-down, that's why im happy when lids has the ball, he usually makes the right decision and uses the ball well........unlike captain.

If he can get more of his disposals on centre wing to half-forward he would make our forward line so much more dangerous through his great foot skills. Couldn't break the lines and get into space to become damaging last night, played more as a link-man using the handball a lot.

Has been going nuts in last quarters so far this year. Great sign.

They were mostly handballs.

He didn't run and carry at all (should be our best at it!) and needs to look at Kingy's game.

Let's just say he had 13 kicks without breaking the lines - hardly matchwinning stuff.

every one of his possessions counts

thats the difference between him and every other player on our list. He is a thinker out on the field and lays off good balls, yep a couple of times he could have run with it, but they are minor structural things he will develop, his class shines when you watch his game for what it is instead of waiting for the juddlike fantasy of 35 possessions, 5 goals on the burst..

he played a good consistant game,he was playing effective link up footy for us, everytime he got he made a good decision. he seems to be improving every week. I dont know about you guys but i think his had a great start to the season espicially his last 3 games:thumbsu:

Actually in the last half he had a lot more kicks than handballs. He first half was all handballs. Maybe Terry said something to him at half time about it. FWIW, When he does handball, it goes in front of the running player to allow them to continue running unlike the majority of the team.

Deledio will never use his pace in a game because he isn't quick over a short distance like the Davey's, Lovett, Rioli etc. He is quick over a longer distance and how often in a game of football do you run for 40m+?

So if anyother player other than Davey's, Lovett, Rioli are on the mark he should be able to run off from them????

his pace isnt as explosive as tambling in competing for a conested possesion but thats why he is used along the wings where he can run up and down the ground all day running off his opponents wheneva the ball is within 40m+. You dont have to have ball to run more than 40m+ in a passage of play. example is Richo works his butt of to get a possesion on the wing, running hard from chf!;)

But he is quick off the mark. His 20 metre is 2.8 something which is very fast.

He might be lacking that acceleration at the moment cos he was being built up as a forward this year but by the mid point of the season i expect his explosiveness to be back.

I think you are right.

He has too much muscle and it has taken away the explosiveness he used to show.

Interesting that he only had handballs in the first half, while they are always quality I still feel we aren't using him to his strengths atm.

He gets caught almost all the time but gives it off to advantage because he is so great. :thumbsu:

Maybe he lacks confidence or is just trying to do the team things.

That's a really good point. I think that sometimes he is trying so hard to bring others into the game that he doesnt do what is actually best for the team. But it is also a sign of good leadership and that he is quite close with a lot of guys on the team.

Not sure where the idea he isn't quick off the mark came from. He maybe isn't Davey quick, but not many are. He just needs the confidence to take on the opposition more often, and that is building, as are his possession tallies.
I wouldn't make too much of the handball stats last week, just about all of our players had more handballs than kicks which was a reaction to the Hawks' rolling zone through the midfield.
I think we'll see some more running against the slow Saints, who might be the only team to still play everyone in their actual positions.

Just imagine if David Gourdis comes good :thumbsu:

At last years Draft Camp he was No.1 in the 20m sprint, 2.3 sec, now thats fasssssst, and ranked no.1 in the running vertical jump 101 cm. And he is 192cm and 90kg. Decent size younge bloke who will only get bigger. Love to see him in the Burgers senior team. Wont be to far away:D

What footy do you watch? thats one of his main assets  He is quicker than Davey, lovett and most other players in the comp over the first 20. 2.8secs, you could count on one hand the players in the comp that can better that.

For some of you who are talking complete and utter uninformed crap, when a player does strength work in his quads, gluts it generally equates to more explosiveness off the mark. With Lids training to be a forward over the summer odds are his explosiveness off the mark is even quicker now than it was, leading fwds generally have to be a bit quick off the mark dont you think?

It will all come together, stop expecting the world and then some from him. Hes going along very nicely. 25possessions a game and ppl are still criticising, thats why richmond supporters are a bloody disgrace

Geez, you are stupid. I for one am not criticising him, I questioned his pace off the mark.

He gets tackled more than Tambling/Foley/White because he isn't as quick off the mark. Deledio is quicker over a longer distance than short.

just how dumb are you?

you have NFI and really should stop embarrassing yourself.

I give you stats to show hes one of the quickest in the league off the mark,

hes equal quickest at richmond off the mark with Goudis yes statistically quicker than Tambling, white and foley, and yet you still persevere with the POV that hes not that quick off the mark :o

idiot
