We all know of the past history between the AFL boss and our club. Hasn't been a very happy one! But, and maybe its just me, it seems like he is humming a new tune!

For a long while it seemed he was running a campaign with an aim to kill off that famous Carlton arrogance, and have our club comply with his new world competition. He backed the installment of incompetent boards to keep a hold on the puppet strings. In fact, i'm surprised Collo doesn't have rock hard abbs from all the bending over he did for the AFL.

But, during Pratt's reign the thumb has been lifted! Is it due to the respect Demetriou has for Pratt and Swan as supreme business operators. Is it that our board has the backing and support of one of the AFL's major sponsors, the NAB. Or is the old Pr**k just getting soft after securing his massive pay load??

Well i don't know but apparently there is a bit of loving being shared our way....

"At the weekend, Demetriou told Channel Seven he was offended by the tanking talk surrounding Carlton. "I actually find it really abhorrent that people are accusing a club, and various people who I've got very high regard for, of actually losing games and having people call them cheats," he said."

Two points. Firstly, people he has respect for = scared of Pratt.

Secondly, this accusations affects the AFL because the priority pick system is his baby and he protects it. Attack Carlton tanking and you attack the AFL's baby. If it didn't impinge on the AFL, Demetriou could not care less what people say about us. Purely self interest.

He knows not to take on the big boys as he doent want to lose face as they would stick it to him tenfold if he stepped out of line.

Plus he knows gate and viewing attendances swell with a successful Blues outfit due to our large supporter base.

The only reason he is defending us is because if the allegations were correct and an investigation was launched, it would tarnish the game. He doesn't want the sport he is CEO of to be known as accomodating cheaters and match fixers. It's in the AFL's best interest that tanking isn't an issue. He still hates us i bet lol

Another view: he recognises Pratt and Swann as professionals who make it their business to know what's going on, and then do it properly and thoroughly. Something you couldn't accuse Jack and whichever CEO we had that week of doing. Kindred spirits if you will.

Yup. And by what he has said in the last couple of days means that there will be no change to the priority pick rule. Can't this bloke just realise that until this system is changed, there will always be this rumour and inuendo that teams are tanking for better draft selections.
