How good could this kid be in the next few years, we could have a team that could be compared to Port Adelaide of 2004. When he gets some size about him and his skills improve just a tad we will have lovett and lovett murry, dempsey, cole, dyson, stanton gee theres some speed there, then ofcourse my fav monfries who is devloping game by game, expect big things from him if he has a good pre season.

Walls talks about opposition teams taking us on and over running us, well if we get a couple more midfielders then we will have the depth that todays teams need, we wont be overun come 2008.

Yeah hes got a bit of speed and confidence, will be great when hes got a reliable target to kick to also when Lloyd gets back next year.

He's definitely got the speed (I was very happy to see him spend a bit of time on Tambling, in which he matched him for pace), but at the moment I think his decision making could be a bit better. There were a couple of times when he seemed to panic and pass it to another one of our blokes who were under pressure.

But he's young, still plenty of time to develop that extra bit of poise.

Yeah have to agree with you. His panicing seemed to be because he couldn't see anyone leading and the forward line was crowded, so sort of got lost. Should have just banged it to the hot spot.

I almost reckon he's been told to run with the ball at every opportunity and at times he ran himself into trouble.

Reminds me very much of what Brent Stanton was doing in his first 10-20 games. Bit of experience and he'll rectify that.

yeah pearce or the burgoynes from port. He actually reminds me of michel long in 1989. I was a young fella back then but i remember a skinny kid who looked like he would get killed, getting the ball screaming down the wing and passing when he should have been having shots at goals. Seriously our team with a couple more additions will have pace to burn.

It took long 4 years to explode so im not placing any pressure on dempsey to perform yet, decision making comes with experience.

Yep, pace to burn, agile..etc

All he has to do is bulk up and learn how to kick the ball on the run.

You would think at the age of 19 that he could actually run at pace and kick the ball. I'm hoping that he can improve in that area allthough i have some reservations.

He did something very, very special in a practice match against Sydney at Princes Park this year that I've seen few kids do in their first season, be it at practice match level or in the big time.

He's got something, actually he's got a lot.

That was an awesome run wasn't it.

He'll be the fleet footed gazelle we've been dreaming about. How skinny is the runt...feed the kid chicken and juice him up on protein. And while theyre at it, introduce another meal between breakfast and brunch.:thumbsu:

How long was his run?
Straight through the middle of the ground from one 50m line to the other with about three swan midfielders trailing after him before slamming it through for a goal.

He looked on Saturday night like he did for Bendigo early in the season, before continuing with steady improvement throughout the season. I think he takes a little time to find the pace of the game at each level. His pace and agility are astonishing, he's got that extra bit of height that could make him interesting too.

yeah ran from back 50 through the midfield and kicked a goal from 50 not bad at all.

I thought he ran from about the defensive 25 mark.

Then again everytime I talk about it he is further back each time :D
In a few weeks he will be taking the kick in and playing on :p

There was video footage of it floating around somewhere

im sorry about this but no way is jolley going to be on our list next year, that guy is way to slow for AFL, good vfl player but theres a big difference between VFL and AFL, lonergan will be better then jolley.

Agree.

We still havent seen him at full tilt yet, he glides along in third gear and every know and then reaches for fourth. Even in that pratice game against sydney earlier this year he was only running as fast as he had to. I can't wait until he's forced to use those extra couple of gears he has up his sleeve.

winderlich will be a very good player I think, very lean but if he slapped on the odd kg (not too many) could be very very good.. I'd be happy with Dempsey gettin more of the ball consistantly before i would offer fenesse about his use, but seems a likely type, but im on the winderlich bandwagon, even if i do go for saints...:D
