Derby Day suits Lloyd
By: Holly Lloyd-McDonald
Bomber spearhead Matthew Lloyd has been named the Ambassador for the 150th Victoria Derby Day.
The three-time Coleman medallist is excited about donning a different hat in October, but revealed he cometimes scratches his head when it comes to suiting up.
"It's fantastic to be a part of this year's carnival" he said.
"I'm a big fan and like to go to a couple of the days each year, but in particular I really enjoy Derby Day."
Lloyd will officially launch Derby Day celebrations at a VIP champagne brunch on Tuesday.
Hawthorn skipper Shane Crawford was set for the role, but the VRC went cold after his raunchy TV documentary.
Lloyd said he sometimes he has to ask wife Lisa for help in the wardrobe department.
"I definately get Lisa's advice as I am not too trendy when it comes to that," he said.
"But I do like to mix up ties and shirts, but on Tuesday we're releasing an exciting trend for racegoers, so that should be interesting."
Essendon's leading goal kicker said the Spring Carnival was special because not only was it Melbourne's own, but the best in the world when it came to racing.
"I love the excitment of it all and I do like a punt during that time of year. But it's the other things like the people, outfits and the weather which makes it so great." he said.
