I don't know if anybody heard this but in Sunday's game during the first half when the swans were killing the Roos, Dermott Brereton started one of his traditional rambles about the swans being confident... he then went on to say that they deserve to be confident but they should be careful not to become arrogant b/c they will start to lose???

he has to fill every silence with long winded, boring Dermott Brereton insights, as if we're marvelling at the way his mind works...

- atleast the topic of arrogance is something he's well qualified in.

I wish i didn't have to listen to him commentate sydney's games

Didn't hear it (was at the game) but sounds like pretty standard Dermie guff - setting up a false criteria of judgement and then using it abstractly to damn the thing he began praising. I don't mind his commentary as much as some people at Big Footy, but he can waffle on sometimes. Knows a lot, and often reads the play very well (and explains it to the TV viewer), but can be a little pedantic and didactic at time.

I don't think the Swans playing confidently is really a problem. What does he treasure is a footy side, humility? We were plenty humble in the early part of season. That's over now, thankfully.

I know what you mean; he reads play well at times, but then feels compelled to share every little thought he has... I don't get to see all the swans games b/c i live in melb, so i often suffer his comentary.

I enjoy Dermie's commentary. He does sometimes get caught up with a few 'bees in the bonnet' but no more so than most commentators. He is far better prepared than most, in that he sounds like he knows who all the players are, even the less well known ones, really has watched them play before and knows their strengths and weaknesses. He also offers some real insights into the game tactics, something that most commentators fail to deliver.

I much prefer a commentator to simply read the passage of play leaving out the insights. for example ; Dennis Committi!

Nicky I am so glad you bought that up Yes I was watching that game and I heard him say that, it really annoyed me also, I thought poor Swannies, cant do a thing right How amazing when they were losing, they were just so darn Ugly, now they start winning, they could become arrogant , Oh well they are making us supporters happy at the moment, hopefully right up to the Grand Final

Dermott Bereton is only making his mate,Eddie happy,by bagging out the Swans.

I can't stand the Nine coverage as it is,

It bores me to tear listening to Dwayne Russell,Gary(try-hard)Lyons,Dermie but Eddie isn't that bad.

A lot of people bag Robert Walls on Ten.

At least Mr Walls knows what he talking about,i wish the pretentious idiots on Nine would take note.
