Hey guys, I just downloaded a device driver for my computer and I've now tried to unzip the exe files and Im still not getting any music from my Windows media player. What have I done wrong? Is there something Im missing?

What did you do with the device driver anyway carly? You need to do more than unzip the files - even the exe files are not always installers for the device driver. Also, what version of Windows are you running?

Once you've unzipped the exe file, you need to go to the unzipped files and usually run the driver install program which is almost always called setup.exe. If there is no setup file or other similarly named executable file, just .inf files, then when go to device manager, find the audio device, which should be represented by a question mark and right click on it to update the driver. point to the unzipped files for the location of the files.

If none of this is working, are you sure the volume is on and the speakers turned on?

Jimboy....how dumb do you think I am?

I'll answer my own question........ Obviously VERY thick!

Anyway, no big deal, I actually got it to work, I didnt realize I would have to click on the exe file I did that, had to do a quick setup thingymabub and voila I have sound!

MrQ- I somehow deleted it but its ok cause I knew where to find it online. I downloaded it, unzipped the files and then I expected it to work. Didnt realize Id have to actually open up the setup.exe file. Anyway I did that and very soon I was listening to music.
Oh and windows 98SE

I can tell you from years of experience in helping people with computers, that you never, never, never assume anything, no matter how obvious, and that goes for fixing my own problems too!

No offence taken BTW;)
