One of the more under-rated bands to pick up a guitar

Hugely influentiual

20 years before thier time .

Love `em .... How many bands wish they had written " Freedom of Choice " ?

" Beautiful World " was ridiculously prophetic .

They are riff meisters - "Girl you want" is seriously under-rated. My boys [8 and five] love them and know all the words to their hits. Beautiful World is fantastic

" There was a poem, in ancient Rome, about a dog, who found to bones, he picked up one, he licked the other, he turned in circles and he dropped dead" - IDGAF its pure GOLD

I do not think they were all that original - if you read interviews of the Mothersbaugh boys they say that they started as kind of Kraftwerk joke

That song is really heavy without actually being heavy ... if you know what i mean . Don`t know why it hasn`t been covered more often
. One of the great all time riffs.

Listened to Beautiful World just the other day . So sickeningly relevent to todays times . Dripping with Sarcasm and cynicism .. Brilliant

Just spitting i never got to see them at Livid a few years ago .

Huge fan here

funny this thread was just started actually as it was only yesterday i bought a double dvd of their stuff from jb"s

fantastic stuff

one of the dvds is them actually performing at a lollapalooza gig about eight years ago

was pleasantly surprised actually they played without any drum machines or lighting or whizz bang special effects & were brilliant

mark mothersbaugh commented at the end that their set was exactly the same as a gig they played live in the late seventies with the exception of only whip it & girl u want

their versions of Uncontrollable Urge+Blockhead +Mr DNA were great

i actually saw them live twice at festival hall when they toured here & that was pretty cool

The one thing missing from this release is the Booji Boy version of Secret Agent Man is not included. It is the version used in the classic music video back in 1975 and has never been available on any release. :(

Last week’s show at The Palais was the best I’ve seen in a long time.

The only miss for me was Booji Boy singing the last song in the set list - Beautiful World.

I’m not a massive spud and obviously that’s been a thing for a long time.

9.75/10

Absolutely brilliant

This is the song that turned me into a DEVO fan, a cover of the Rolling Stones Satisfaction that they needed to get Jagger and Richards' approval to release because they changed some of the lyrics. I think it's better than the original.

This is the Saturday Night Live performance from 1978, I think it may have been the first time they appeared live on American TV.
