Foolishly started watching fox footy three weeks ago and noted that not one expert picked us against the WCE. Thought, ok surely they will jump on us against the Hawks but no they all said Hawks would beat us up and be too canny. The next week the Giants were unbeatable according to the football geniuses. Now, you would think that Dunstall, Healy, Brown and King would be so embarrassed at their 0/3 records that they would see how well be were playing and perhaps tip us but no- they prattled off how 'Buddy was going to destroy us' or 'you got to tip head over heart' (whatever that means) etc.... BS. Never mind that the team we just beat wiped out the Swans 3 weeks ago.

So do you think we will get any mea culpas out of these guys? Or will it be just George Bush invading Iraq 'yeah it was a great idea at the time' will they admit 'I was wrong about the dogs' or 'I am a crap tipster and know SFA about the game'. We'll see

My TAB experts said otherwise. Hope all of our doggie diehards are all rewarded handsomely for your all against the odds beliefs.

In the Herald-Sun at the midway point of the season they had a poll of journos and players as to who they thought would win the flag, as well as the Brownlow, wooden spoon, and a few other things. One guy did pick us to win the flag, but I can't recall his name. I went to the State Library recently and tried to find the edition, but I couldn't remember after which round the H-Sun did the poll, and I could tell it was going to take me too long to scroll through all the June editions until I found it. But yes, some clever person did pick us for premiers, and it was well before the finals began.

Grant Thomas did before the finals started. Probably 2 or 3 weeks before.
Ironically he was one of the better media personalities to follow through the finals. I recall him still tweeting, thinking we'd win when we were 28 or so points down against Hawthorn in the second quarter I believe.

Not really fussed that none of the commentators and experts tipped us.

I have no problems admitting that I thought West Coast were going to beat us in the first final - their form leading in was good, ours was shit, it was at Subiaco where we hadn't won since the Stone Age, and we were bringing back 4-5 underdone players from injury.

In the other three finals I definitely thought we were a chance. Against West Coast I was pessimistic as all hell.

I'm being serious here , but most of us on here have a far better handle on our team than most of these so called experts.
I am amazed sometimes on how little they understand about the pecking order and abilities of most of our players , especially the newer boys.
You had the feeling the Breretons and Kings of this world only saw us up there by some unexplained miracle , with nothing much to to about a very talented group extremely well coached.

Let's be honest, even Beveridge and the playing group were shocked by how well we played in the first final. That's not to say that they didn't believe they could win, but we had never played that well all year. Actually I don't even remember the last time I saw us play that well. Then it just became the new standard and we kept it up for another 3 weeks.
