Did anyone else feel the support at half time?
When the siren went and everyone/most people stood up and clapped and cheered the Bomber boys off?

That was something I had never seen or felt before..
I just think it's great that everyone still gets behind em..

Should be a win next week *touch wood!*

wow, another treand by you(no hate) anyway the support was their after the fist half of footy finishes. Also i agree i win next week agaist port:thumbsu:

It was very good. The intensity of the crowd and our playing group at half time was fanastic.

Very disapointed with the cheersquad giving the boys a standing ovation after the game. Never clap off a losing side. Never.

It is the cheersquad remember. They can't even keep up with their own chants let alone the GS' chants. They just turn around and stare at us 'drunks' blankly. They are rubbish. Dodgey and a few others have offered them assistance. We should just annexe them.

Well, we have nothing much else to cheer this year so may as well applaud them for their endeavour.

totally agree. there is no need clapping a losing side its like saying close enough is good enough. well it's not. the sooner people start realising it the better. i am sure the club would feel the same way.

i am not saying there effort was not good. it just was not good enough and did not deserve to be cheered from the field. that should only happen at richmond and carlton.

Garry Lyon, much as I dislike him, did make that point during the broadcast. Said we were "in a whole lot of trouble if we allow that mindset".

If Essendon has a crack I`ll clap them off. I`m sure everyone clapped them off in `00 when we lost one. It`s when they get slaughtered. That`s when you would question supporters clapping them off. Nothing wrong in acknowleding effort.

...and having said that, I`m pretty sure most players couldn`t give a :D:D:D:D about the supporters.

I was down the race next to the change room, and I couldnt understand the intensity of the cheering that went on. Havent seen that for a while at the footy, was good to see.

In regards to the cheering them after the game, I agree with a few others. Never cheer a loss, it makes it seem alright.

what happens if we clap for a goal after the final siren that a bomber kicked but we still loose the game.. that merit for a fight??

Our losing side played a quality brand of footy all day, only to be beat by a superior side.

Success comes with confidence, and confidence can be born out of what the cheer squad did for our boys today. Sure nobody likes to lose, but kicking someone while they're down only buries them further. We are "supporters" of the EFC, so we aren't doing our job for the club unless we're supporting.

Not clapping a quality brand of football is certainly not a supportive gesture. I fully support what the the cheer squad did, thumbs up for recognizing an excellent effort from the Dons today.

Showing support and giving credit where credit is due, I have no problem with.
Showing pride that your club had a crack, I have no problem with.

But a standing ovation with a full compliment of floggers and pom-poms. That's a concern.

Bit of an exaggeration there, half the squad did the Harry Holt when Embley slotted the sealer in the last. That was more concerning than seeing our boys cheered off.

Supporters of all clubs leave. You'd like to think your own club wouldn't do it and no it isn't good. But sadly it happens.

I looked across after the game and those that were left in the cheersquad had the big pom-poms going, they were standing up and clapping.

It's good to show support and stick together when things are going bad. But we can't ever get into the situation where we believe close enough is good enough and the cheersquad were doing that today.

longy bombers getting flogged by 80 points 3 quarter time.. u the type to pack up and leave??? or u stick it out

Only left a game early once and that was only because of a family emergency. And we won.
Didn't hang around for the 1990 medal presentation either, but stayed until the final siren.

i been to two finals 99 prelim and 01 granny... i think i have a curse .. 99 i was young and went in with carlton supporter.. heard that song like 10 times that day... stood in shock... amazing how involved your emotions can get in a spectator sport... i should of told the crying essendon supporters that day lol

1-7 is where it has got us. If our best is not good enough then we suck it up and take our rightful place at the bottom. That is the way the AFL has intended it to be, so be it.

We're a sporting organisation, and sporting organisations have their good times and their bad times. It is the measure of a "supporter" as to whether they stick around for both.

I'm sticking around of course, but I just don't need to cheer when we have lost, whether it's a close game or not. Did you clap them off after the Hawthorn or Richmond games?

west coast is not a rubbish side like hawthorn richmond. if was an exciting brand of footy the bombers played today and measured themselves against the best a realised that we are 1 quarter away... which in reality is not that bad as were 16 and they are 1.. the games against hawthorn and richmond were boring and a waste of peoples time.
