Did anyone see what Foxtel "The Teams" did?

I admit I don't post oftern here on the forums here, but I watched the show in hospital, and I thought it was a low act by Johhno to make a person whieither they have a disability or not to toy with their emotions to feel like they have won Grand Final tickets, and then award them to someone else. Poor Form indeed!

I seen it..
Didn't give it a thought until i read this thread.
Absolute bulls^*t from the OP. It was a fun segment, they weren't laughing at the guy with Down's FFS. People like you are always looking to play the victim.
They chose the other guy to win, he WAS best dressed! I'm sure the guy wouldn't have wanted to win just because he has Down's..
This is why society is screwed these days.. We have to patronise everyone.

Of course you didn't

Ya pretty much agree with this, massive over reaction from OP and casting accusations on BT and Johnnos characters from a 1min clip is poor form.

Are you saying the Down Syndrome man should not have been allowed to attend if he was not going to win?

BTs comments were directed at the cat chick talking about the ballot box. After that you can see Johnno actually turns around for the first time and notices the down syndrome guy and ask if he is ok. This looks like the first time he realised and later gives him a hug and says well done.

Bit of an over reaction, yes he did appear to have down syndrome but they didn't make fun of him. I thought they were laughing at the woman with no teeth.

It's not their fault he was expecting the tickets, all the people in the studio wanted them.

I have seen the segment once, and I won't defend what they did, because what the whole panel did was wrong IMO.

But I think they didn't do it deliberately, I think they are a little naive, and maybe unintelligent and just simply were not thinking when they were making fun of all the contestants, and especially the poor Collingwood kid, who I could clearly tell had some sort of disability, although I'll refrain from diagnosing it due to my lack of knowledge on the area.

I firmly believe Johnno realised late that something wrong was going on, and gave the kid a hug, and as far as the decision to give the ticket goes, well I'd say that was made well before the segment started, so I don't think it was made against anyone, especially against the Collingwood kid.

I'm sure once the panel watch it again they will see that what they did was in poor taste, and while not deliberate, it was out of line.

Hopefully they track the kid down and give him at least one ticket.

Jedi... didn't really think BT would point out multiple times it was for "Best dressed"... up to leading to giving the award to someone he thought had best haircut. Obviously I picked up on the man they kept leading to believe he'd won, yet he lost... I picked up on his condition and most definately picked up on his reaction that it appears most missed (as I have previously pointed out the facts of what I saw on this thread.

Opinions vary. I think in this case there was a hell of alot of ignorance to peoples sensativities... you don't... others don't... I do and a few others.

No dramas. I'm out from this discussion...

but from where I stand, it's purely because I can't waste my time trying to explain other peoples ignorance.

I hope that man gets a ticket... after Johno and BT got their laughs at his desparate expense... preferably at some ignorant pricks expense... He can have Johnno or BT's ticket IMO.

See ya

Agreed. I didn't think it was vindictive... as you said I think it was all just pure ignorance.

P.S:- Stand by what i said... I'm just a little calmer now!

So it seems there are two very different views on the incident in question.

Those who work with or have family members who have a disability are shocked and appalled.

Those who don't didn't think it was that bad.

Not having seen it I won't put my two bobs in but I find the above differentiation interesting.

Was watching it as it happened. Cringed as I watched as the kid had no support around him and the panel were on air.

I don't attribute any blame on the panel and in fact thought Johnno was very mindful of managing the situation whilst at the same time performing his on camera role. I would have thought leaving him standing next to Johnno, calling out, when all the others were ushered away would have been cruel.

Where were the guys friends, parents etc.

Smoky, good to see people like you giving a crap though. Thanks
