Trading Hamilton and garbage for Stackhouse.

Stackhouse, the perrenial hog/chemistry killer/headcase

Laettner/Hughes(couldnt start PG at the Warriors :D/Stackhouse

How many headcases can u have in one team..

Ohh and how can I forget that fat unfit #1 bust Kwame.
Along with that shocking draft...picking up Juan Dixon (6'3 unathletic SG who cant play PG) with the #17 pick, while missing out on Rush, Woods, Dickau, Williams etc.

I like how Jordan thinks he can attract free agents to washington...when he cant even re-sign Popeye Jones!

Bryon Russell will be a good pick up, im sure his evaporating skills will be much appreciated by the worst franchise in the NBA

Micheal Jordan = Worst GM in the NBA

Stackhouse WAS a poison but has turned that around in the last two years. Now he's a very fine player indeed.

I think Detroit have erred, as do a lot of fans on other boards.

Hamilton is nowhere near as good as Stack at this time, and may never be.

Washington have improved their playoff changes big time.

Come on if Mj gets a post presence/rebounder we are talking about contenders in the east here as long as he plays
He better play im going all the way to Washington December 3rd to see him and Stack drop 40 each on Ray Allen and the Bucks :D
GO WIZARDS !!!!!!!!!!!! GO MJ YOU ARE STILL GOD !!!!!!!!! AND ALWAYS WILL BE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spot on. Very accurate description.

Washington win out on this. Rip will be a very good player though....(do we say that every year?)

Rip's numbers are comparative to those of Stackhouse (despite less court time), and he is 4 years younger.

Tell me again why Washington win on this deal.

Stack has playoff experiance and has grown into a leader.
For now, I think Wizards win, but in the long run, Detroit get a possible starter for 10 years.

I have bigger wraps for Stack though, as he has learned to play the team game and play for wins. Rip has not got me convinced...yet.

He got burnt in the playoffs!

:D :D Too true actually. But he has been there, knows what its like, and can lead a team to the playoffs.
I'm not saying the deal is massively in the Wiz's favour, but I am leaning towards them.

hmmm... frickk..

argh.. player contracts...

why would u get rid of your all-star go-to-guy and get a young scorer (worse defender) and some other trash.. surely it would be more balanced if it were r.hamilton and a big bodied center.. say jahidi white, b.haywood... but its basically a straight swap..

detroit will be f*cked this year !!

WOW!!! Lets take the the other 4 players out of the trade because Varda, Davis, Simmons and that other guy were just trash making the money probs with the trade go away. Basically it was Stack for Rip.

Initially i was a little shocked, annoyed and disappointed as Rip was one of my favourite players but when i analysed the deal it seems that on the surface the Wizards have got a winner.

As much as i like Rip Hamilton, he is and always will be nothing but a scorer, he is though quite good at that but he cant pass, defend or rebound. He barely averages over 2 rebounds and assists per game. He also has no playoff experience.

Stack on the other hand is now (didnt used to be) a pretty good baller. He has learnt to share the ball, do the little things while still being able to score. He isnt a bad defender and last season had averages of 4.1rpg and 5.3apg and 21.4ppg. In the last 2 years or so Stackhouse has turned his career around and now is one of the better all around ballers in the NBA. Plus he has playoff experience.

When MJ went down last season, Rip tried his best but he is no leader and the Wiz couldnt win that many games without MJ on the floor. But Stack is a different story, he is a leader, can be relied upon to score and take the burden if Jordan is out or just simply having a breather on the bench.

We all know what happened to Stack in the playoffs last season in his chokeathon against the C's. But if playoff basketball eventuates at the end of this season, which i think is a distinct possibility, he will be under no pressure. As everything will flow through Jordan. His game could thrive after finally releasing the burden of being the team leader and just feeding off MJ.

This could be a great trade for Washington. Perhaps not in the long run given that this is MJ's last season, if in fact he comes back at all. Plus Stack is 28 but Washington have got some good youngsters in Haywood, Thomas, Brown (he will turn the corner) and there two rookies, Dixon and Jeffries.

Getting excited now with the season not far away.....ESPN too on Foxtel...does it get any better!

A pretty shocking troll....nowhere near up to the standards of such great trolls like P&P:D Sabre, Kuepper and Joffa.

Who cares. Neither franchise will be a major player next season, even in that pathetic Eastern Conference.

Great summary jod23.
Stack has improved immensely, and spot on about his leadership qualities. He's finally got his head straight and knows how to run the team.

BTW. Etan Thomas ain't half bad. Could turn out to be a 10/10 player consistently.

Yeah he is my pick to actually start at the 4 next season in front of Jones, if he re-signs, Leattner and Brown. Could be a real quality player.

In lieu of Rip coming of age, and the Pistons making it to the dance, thought it was time to reminisce.

Some interesting comments here, but bear in mind that jod was a Wizards fan when these were made.
