The good news is Alan Didak has at this stage avoided a knee reconstruction. He requires some surgery and will be sidelined for 7-8 weeks but will be back for the start of pre-season and hopefully ready for round 1.

That is fantastic news, he is one of our best players and would be greatly missed if out for the season. Hope the surgery goes well and he can get a full pre-season into him.

Now there is news that he will have surgery tomorrow to have knee surgery to repair the tendon but apparently it is not a full reco. Alan is hoping to be back at the early stages of next year. The injury is not as bad as first thought. Nothing is for certain when he returns but best case is that he is back for round 1.

Pretty good news and hopefully he can get his knee right and not have any problems with it in 2007. There is more on the Collingwood website.

Fellas, I've had a reco so I know what I'm talking about. There is no such thing as a "partial reconstruction". When the ACL is damaged (either a partial or a full tear), it cannot repair. It needs to be replaced, either by a graft of the patella (kneecap) tendon or of the hamstring tendon. That's why they are called "reconstructions".

Gary Ablett Snr had exactly the same injury in 1997 as Didak has now: a partial tear of his ACL. He delayed his surgery and it ultimately cost him his career (he eventually had the reco 3 months later). Didak needs a full reco.

Well I'm confused over this issue. Reports on the collingwood website say that it is a partial reconstruction and he is aiming for round 1. Now medico's are saying there is no such thing or that he will still be out for around about 9 months. Either Alan and his doctor know something new or they are covering up he is out for the first half of the season and trying to make things sound better than they are. But either way it is a big blow to us because with no pre-season I doubt he would be at his best anyway.

Well its that time again for me to bet my house again. Didak is most definately haveing a knee reco this week. He is seeing a surgeon tomorrow and will make the decision. Thats Brodie out for the first 6 games and Didak out for the first half of the season and as i said i will put my house on it.
