Alan Didak is set to make his return via the Williamstown reserves this weekend against North Ballarat, having impressed at training on Monday.

The Magpie forward was involved with the main group for the first time since injuring his iliotibial band ten weeks ago, a thick band of tissue that extends from the thigh down over the knee and attaches to the tibia.

With the Williamstown seniors having a bye this weekend, Seagulls coach Brad Gotch is likely to select a strong reserves side, with as many as nine players on the Collingwood list in contention.

And with Didak moving freely in his first session back, the 22 year old is looking forward to putting the road to recovery behind him.

?It?s been mentally tough but there has been heaps of support around the club and after training with the main group on Monday I feel heaps better.

?It?s the first time I?ve trained with the boys in 10 weeks. I?ve been doing my own thing at training until now ? and it can get pretty frustrating when all you want to do is get amongst it.

?It?s been more about controlling the injury. It?s a joint effort between me, the physio and the docs ? and to play footy. If there is pain during the year I?m not too phased, as long as I can keep running and pushing through.?

And with spirits high around the club after last weekend?s ?character building? 20 point win against the Blues, Didak?s return to training could not have come at a better time, adding pressure on the group to continue to perform.

?I?m just going to take it from there (the weekend) and hopefully I can play a couple more games for Willy and get back in the seniors as soon as possible. I?ve got another full session on Wednesday and an ease-up on Friday and see how I pull up and we?ll make a decision on Friday night as to whether I?ll play or not.

?The hat is back in the ring and I?m raring to go and I can?t wait to get back in the seniors.?

With Didak set to return this Saturday against the North Ballarat Roosters, Gotch will have a wealth of other young talent at his disposal.

Ben Davies, who missed a lot of the pre-season through injury, and Brayden Shaw, who has had limited game time since coming on against Sydney in the pre-season, are likely to be in contention.

Chris Egan is also being considered, and needs, according to Gotch, to ?keep playing competitive footy?. And with Sean Rusling, Heritier O?Brien, Adam Iacobucci, Billy Morrison and Brent Hall all in need of game-time, it is likely to be a good opportunity for Magpie fans in Ballarat to see some of our best young talent on show
