Basically this is a whinge about daylight saving.

If you like DS, stay out cause I aint interested. I just wanna hear the negative! :p

Daylight saving sucks the big one. It is now March and I'm looking out my window at 6pm and it still looks like 3 in the afternoon. I get hassled to go out and 'do something' the lawns (fat chance if any rain fell maybe), clean the yard. Fix that back fence etc etc. While its still light out we could go for a walk.

In other words there seems to be this idea that just because there is daylight about I should have to DO something!! Anything just so long as I don't waste the 'extra' light hours.

Memo to these people. THERE ISN'T ANY EXTRA LIGHT! Its been stuffed around artificially to make it okay for those that can afford to relax and soak and enjoy it lives more comfortable. That's all.

Most people just get home from work, want to relax, eat go about normal routine. They don't need kids in their ears (or neighbours kids in the street) screaming to 9:30 and annoying buggery out of them. Or the 'her indoors' complaining that "you said when the footy season was over you would fix"....

Well damn daylight saving and damn the moron that invented it. I want my darkness to descend at 6pm. I want to sit and watch the news in a fittingly depressing black environment while wrapped up nice and cosy in my living room. I want peace and quiet from the damn world and not have to work in it if there's legitimate (i.e. its to dark) to do anything!!!

Daylight saving I will be glad when you go back to the Hell you came from soon. Be great if you stayed there forever too.

It bothers us as well! The pay TV guides and adds for TV show times are all outta wack. You get used to it, but it's still annoying.

Or WA...we don't have it here either!
I think DS was invented by the English, but it was so the farmers could get extra light in the morning, not in the evenings, so it's actually the wrong way round here than what was originally intended....if that makes any sense.....

Because of DS, the Footy will be delayed an extra hour.
Not to mention what it does to the time zones for anyone wanting to stay up & watch the EPL. But DS in the UK is a good thing for that.:) :)

Grendel, if her indoors is pressuring you to take advantage of every second of daylight, "do this, do that"... get your own back when winter kicks in.

As soon as it gets dark, point her to the stove... "shut up and cook, shut up and cook".

I liked Daylight Saving when we had it. The excuses they gave us for not bringing it back were pathetic:

"Daylight Saving will fade our curtains"
"WA does more trade with Asia than we do with Eastern States"

Daylight saving is good. In the summer you have the option of doing outdoor recreation activities and there is nothing better than a mild summer night outdoors. I dont know why anyone would whinge about it.

Perth gave it a go a few years back and realised it was bull**** and never adopted it again.
After all we have enough hot weather and sunshine here, I suppose the cold rain soaked eastern states of Vic and syd might benefit from it

It gives me more time to do things outside like walking my dog. When its not daylight savings i never have time to go outdoors after school because it gets dark too quickly.

Yeah, an extra hour of sunlight would really fade those curtains.....

The above are not the real reasons, cows get confused about milking times........ this is the real reason.

Bring it (back) to the west ... i say........ an evening swim down the beach is my reason for daylight saving.

Sabre

Daylight saving doesn't mysteriously make another hour of sunshine & hot weather, it is already there, just gives us an extra hour to enjoy it after work.

OH & the eastern states would be thankful if they were rain soaked, seeing as they had severe droughts last year.

Can't believe I'm agreeing with a Freo supporter :D

I'd love Daylight Saving to return to WA. Great to get an extra hour in for a swim at City Beach or Cott after Uni or work.

Re: the cow comment. Were more rural folks opposed to daylight saving that the city slickers?
